I stretch my arm toward the wall and turn out the lights. With the light snuffed out, my other senses rise, hunting for her in the dark. The smell of her hair and her quick, shallow breaths. My sight adjusts until the heavy black curtain completely obscuring her fades to gray. Light from the outer room spills under the door, revealing just the shape, the outline of her, but still camouflaging details. I cup her cheek, taking a moment to appreciate the softness of her skin, the silky hair brushing my knuckles. I’m not an idiot. She wants the lights out because she’s self-conscious, but from my perspective, she has nothing to be ashamed of. “I think you’re beautiful, Ban.” “You do?” she asks, her voice hushed. My words surprise me as much as they seem to surprise her, because I don’t say shit like that to girls. The prettiest ones usually seem to already know, which makes any admiration I’d express redundant. But Banner . . . she’s so beautiful, and I’m not sure she knows. “I do.” I push the hair away from her face. “Uh . . . thank you.” Her laugh isn’t much more than a breath. “The lights are out, so I’m not sure that compliment counts.” “I know your face by heart. You have seven freckles here.” I swipe a finger over the straight bridge of her nose and drift down to caress her full lips and the tiny dent in her cheek her smile displays. “And a dimple right here.” I explore the smooth skin of her nape, under a heavy fall of hair. “Now I want to know your body, too,” I say softly. “Take off your clothes for me, Banner.” After a sharply indrawn breath, she raises her arms. The rustle of her clothes—the sweatshirt, jeans, socks, shoes—being discarded whisper in the dark. I approximate her by touch, reaching for her arms and closing my fingers around the softness, the velvety skin. I lower my head and run my nose along her neck, discovering. “You always smell so good.” I’ve wanted to tell her that since the first night we studied here. “Pretty Pastel,” she replies, her laugh low, nervous. “What?” I pause. “The smell. It’s my dryer sheets. The scent is Pretty Pastel.” “I like it.” I resume my exploration, running a palm over her shoulder, her collarbone until I find the soft, full weight of her breasts, testing them in my hands, cupping them, holding them, brushing the nipples with my thumbs until they pebble and her breaths come harshly. “You like that?” I ask. I see her head nod in the semi-darkness. “Yeah. It feels good.” Her touch startles me in the best way, her hand finding my face, traveling over my mouth, eyes, and hair. I sense her approach, feel tiny pants of breath on my lips, and anticipation has me panting, too, shortens my breath and sharpens my senses. Her mouth seeks mine, eager and sweet when she kisses me. Her pleasure, her excitement matches, answers, fans mine. I guide her back down to the couch, and with a hand at her shoulder, urge her to stretch out. I’d shave points off my GPA for a glimpse of her, but she doesn’t want that. I get it, so I settle for a taste. I may have only read 2 Kennedy Ryan books but this very talented author has fast become one of my go to authors and Block Shot is certainly in my top ten reads of 2018. This book has it all it will draw you in and at times spit you out, it will make you feel and at times it will make you hurt and that’s why it’s taken me a few days to put words together that I hope will not only do this book justice but I hope will make all of you out there go and one click this must read and please don’t be put off by it being book 2 because it certainly can be read as a stand-alone.
This is Jared and Banner’s story who both happen to be top sports agents but that’s not all they have in common because they have a history they have a past that actually shaped then into who they have become but most importantly they are soulmates. A Misunderstanding in college lead the best friends to part on bad terms and it’s only 10 years later when they reunite they realise the feelings have never gone away but Banner’s love life has moved on and she is living with her best friend a man she thought would be her forever well that was before Jared came back into her life......
What can I say about these characters apart from this author made them feel real to me we got to see the good the bad and at times the ugly. Banner is such a strong woman with a heart of gold and her strength is that she cares and her kindness drives her through some situations none of us would want to find ourselves in. Jared is honest and Banner is the love of his life she is the woman he needs to breath and she makes him feel alive and he will do what is needed to make her his again. Block Shot is a book that will stay me long after I read the last line, it’s a book I will read again and again, it’s not just a love story it’s a journey with characters that I love, it’s deals with heartache, vulnerability, sickness and people at their lowest but it’s written beautifully and with compassion. This author has shown us just how talented she is with this brilliant read, great job Kennedy Ryan.




Kennedy Ryan is a new author to me and I have no idea why. This book was one of those books that gripped me from the start and would not let me go; I was totally hooked and invested in Jared and Banner. This is one of my top reads of 2018, I just devoured this boo in one read.
Banner Morales, where do I begin? I just loved everything about her. She was determined, feisty, not a afraid to take a risk and confront those who do wrong. If I had Banner in my corner, I would be one lucky woman.
Jared Foster, well he just ticks all my boxes; a swoon worthy alpha hero who had a conscience and refused to bow to peer pressure in college. I just loved his determination to set the record straight and to go after the woman of his dreams. 
I loved the relationship that Jared and Gus have and found their conversations endearing. The chemistry between Jared and Banner was smoking hot and palpable and reading as this second chance at love friendship/relationship re developed was truly awesome. 
Block Shot is a story of love, forgiveness, determination, about making dreams come true and setting goals, focusing and achieving them. Above all it is a story about believing in oneself and learning to love yourself. 
The story simply flows and the characters are believable and so easy to relate too. The writing and story line is solid and all in all this was a fantastic read. This is a must read book. One click now you will not regret it.
