We first meet Rick and Maddy in The Do Over. I have to say I wasn't very fond of Rick at first.
His attempts to win Maddy over changed my view of him. He went to great lengths to get her to listen to him. He tracked her down, found her at the airport. He purchased a ticket to get on the same plane as her. Not too many people will do that.
Even though Rick and Maddy call each other names and try to put one another down, it doesn't tear them apart. It actually brings them back together. They both have a messed up past with having different partners. Rick, he only looks out for himself. He will say anything to get down a woman’s pants. Once that woman wants more Rick high tales it out of there. Maddy, though she is a different story. He can’t get her out of his head. She irritates him but he loves it. It is a turn on when she calls him an asshole. By the way he is that. But he gets to you. All the moves he makes to make Maddy his. The gifts he buys her. He sweet talks her and her guard goes down.
Maddy is an ice queen. Letting someone into her heart is a no go. She did that once and it didn't end well. Since then she uses men. She gets what she wants from them and that is that. She is a hard worker and doesn't play around. So when Alex shows up and wants to play games, she nips that in the bud. Or at least she tries to.  I have to hand it to Alex though. I mean he knows how to push Rick’s buttons.
As we get to know more of Rick and his family, we see a softer side of him. His sisters are bitches and his mom spoils the shit out of him. But he does things from the heart, even though he does them wrong sometimes. Maddy opens up and we learn of her past when she was younger. I think every young girl had a crush on an older man. Whether they took it to the next level is a different story. Maddy though, she was primed at a young age.  She knew what she wanted when she was older and nothing was going to get in her way. But it did, kind of. She built such and ice brick wall around her heart it seemed impossible to break it. It did break though and Rick was the one who did it.

Their constant bickering with one another, turned into them having hot, wild, passionate sex. Their love for one another was blind to each other. I want to tell you to get ready to scream and shout towards the end. It will leave you having so many questions. You could read this before you read The Do Over, but you wouldn't get the beginning stages of their relationship. I would read The Do Over before I read It’s Not Over.

  1. Thank you so much! There are so many layers to Rick and Maddy. In The Do Over, they're so hard to like when we first meet them. But as you get to know them, see them interact with one another...there's more to them. =) Thank you for taking their journey and I can't wait to share Let It Go!! <3
