(Stand alone)
I've loved once. I gave everything that I had to that love. Blindly believing that nothing could ever take that feeling away from me. Away from us. And when my little world of happiness was ripped from my fingers, I felt a loss that still haunts me to this day.
Now I use that lingering grief as a shield to keep my heart from loving again. It's that fear that keeps me from letting anyone, except my daughter, get close enough to make it hurt. To make my heart bleed when I inevitably lose again.
Until the day I met Liam Beckett and everything I thought I had protected myself from was shoved back in my face.
He's on a mission to prove to me that a love worth having is a love worth fighting for.
Excerpt #1
His mouth leaves mine and with his hand still on my leg, he demands, “Dig your heels in deep, baby.”
I give him what he wants, but not because he told me to. I give him what he wants because when his hand leaves my leg and pushes into the mattress, bringing his body up he goes even deeper into my body and those heels push hard.
Just as he demanded earlier, my hands go to his shoulders on my own accord and as he takes my body hard, my nails dig in with my heels still pushing hard against the small of his back. Our eyes never leave each other’s probing gaze. Never once do I take my eyes away from his, so full of lust that I know there isn’t an ounce of control left in his body.
He drops his head and I lift up to meet him in a kiss so sweet it doesn’t match the powerful way that he’s taking my body. A kiss that gives me more than words ever could at this moment. His hips slow and as his tongue rolls against mine, his hips start to take me in slow, deep rolls. He doesn’t pull back, just rocks his hips against mine.
I push up and cry out when he slips even deeper.
His lips come from mine and his hooded eyes open a sliver. “Feels like heaven,” he says softly. “Everything, darlin’. Feels like everything.”
5 Heart Wrenching Stars
Harper she knows how to pull on your heartstrings. She has you laughing one minute and then crying the next.
We met Megan briefly in Unexpected Fate. She was a wife of a fallen Marine that served with Cohen. She was tossed into the group and was under the radar for a while. Well that is until Liam set his eye's on her. I have to say like father like son. It was great seeing Beck and Dee again. The way Harper writes it is like you are sitting there watching a play. When it comes to the looks on their faces you feel like you are intruding.
Megan heartbroken over loosing her husband forgot how to live. Her lifeline? Liam!! He told her straight out he is going to get her to FEEL again. Bless his heart he did that and then some. He was wrapped around her daughter Molly's finger. Reading about Liam, Nate and even Axel getting a makeupover was hilarious. I loved every minute of it. These men are not afraid to show their feminine side.
Something clicks for Megan. It happens fast and it hits her hard. Breaks the rest of her walls down. She wanted nothing more for Molly than to be happy. When Megan see's how Molly is treated with this kick ass group, she realizes how she tried to keep Molly from having it...LOVE!!
Like I said Harper plays with your emotions in Bleeding Love. The last 4 chapters I laughed then cried right after laughing. It hurt my head actually. I had to leave the room so my family wouldn't pick on me. I loved it. Loved how Liam fights for what is his, how Megan finally realized that Liam was the one. That no matter how hard she tried to fight him, he wasn't giving up. I seriously can't wait for the next book.
5 star review.
I was given this ARC for a honest review.
This book is all about Trust, and not just trusting others, its about trusting yourself.
If you have read book 1, you will know about Megan's loss and how she struggles to trust and live her life without guilt.Liam wants her and not just for sex, he wants forever with her and what Liam wants he normally gets. He needs to make her feel again and to stop the guilty feelings that she can't seem to shift, he needs to show her how to love unconditionally.
Liam is so much like his Dad Beck, he is faithful, patient and knows what he wants and will not give up till he gets it. He is an Alpha male with a sensitive side that I fell in love with.
This is a must read series and not much else to say about it.
Harper Sloan has done it again.
5 Star Review of Bleeding Love (Hope Town Book 2) by Harper Sloan
I received this book in exchange for an honest review
Truth be told I am in love with all of the men from Corps security and when I found out that Harper
Sloan was writing the Hope Town series about the children of the Corps security men I was thrilled.
When I heard that Liam Beckett’s story was next in the Hope Town series, I was so excited. Bleeding Love follows on from Unexpected Fate where we met Megan, the widow of one of Cohen’s fallen
comrades. As a typical member of the Corps security family, the children are just as caring and
compassionate as their parents.
Beck was probably my favorite Harper Sloan book. That is until I read Bleeding Love. Bleeding
Love has slightly edged it out. Liam Beckett is a cop; a man who smiles whilst living life to the
fullest, knowing that it may be taken away at any time. He is a man of integrity, hardworking, a
wonderful and caring friend. Fiercely protective of those he cares about; hardly surprising given his
parents are John and Dee Beckett, one of my favorite couples.
Megan and her daughter Molly have been adopted by the whole gang. Slowly but surely Liam falls
for the sad and withdrawn Megan. You only have to look at her to know she has lost the energy to
live, she has closed herself and by extension her daughter off to life. Something Liam is determined to help her find again. Megan is haunted by her past and determined to live in it, that way she cannot be hurt again. She is afraid to love and to live.
Megan doesn’t count on the sheer force of nature that is Liam (call me Lee) Beckett. He is determined to bring her back to life, one day at a time. One fun experience at a time. With the help of his best friend Dani, he creates a bucket list of fun things to do to help bring Megan back to life.
I think that was when I first fell under the spell of the awesome Lee Beckett. Unbeknownst to Liam,
Megan is also an author or erotic stories. She found it therapeutic after her husband died and is now
extremely successful. That is not her only secret. When Megan finally opens up to Lee and tells him
about her past, the way he responds is so caring and compassionate I just fell more and more for
Liam.
The path to Liam and Megan’s happily ever after is filled with one step forward, two steps back as
Megan tries to fight her attraction. In fact her stubbornness forces Lee to pull back for a while until
she is ready to take the chance that he offers her, he needs her to consciously choose to take the next
step and meet him half way.
However when Megan grabs on to that rope and reaches for it, you just have to cheer and melt,
because there is Liam ready to catch and protect her. Liam knows that he has to consider Molly,
Megan’s young daughter and that is no hardship. He loves Molly as much as Megan and it is beautiful to read about the things that they do together. In fact, some of the best scenes are between Molly and Liam, Nate and Axel.
I loved the vulnerability of Megan and I thoroughly enjoyed watching her transform into the fun
loving woman who basks in the love of Liam, Molly and her new found friends. She has finally let
them in and what a wonderful experience that is.
If you haven't had the pleasure of reading this series, do yourselves a favour and read it now. You
won’t be disappointed. This is Harper Sloan writing at her best and I cannot recommend this book
more highly and I eagerly await the next book.
About the Author:
Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her eReader attached. She enjoys bad reality TV and cheesy romantic flicks. Her favorite kind of hero--the super alpha kind!
Harper started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
