Tom London has done a pretty damn good job. Despite an illness that stole his young wife years ago, he’s raised his biological son, and several adopted ones, to be fine men. The Hot Rods might be unconventional, but they’re hardworking, hard-playing, and hard-loving. Tom couldn’t ask for anything more—except perhaps an equally fierce love of his own. And he’s got his eye on a luscious candidate. Ms. Wilhelmina Brown, a longtime widow with more than enough sass in her step to take him on.
Willie has a lot in common with Tom. She’s raised two wonderful daughters, both now married into the Hot Rods family, and lived through her own tragedy, having lost her husband in a horrific accident. More than two decades later, she and Tom still live with the ghosts of their pasts, but she’d have to be dead herself not to feel the man’s effect on her libido. They already share a mutual respect; perhaps they can each be what the other needs in more tangible ways…
As Tom and Willie take one step closer, an explosive revelation shoots them several steps back. But that bombshell turns out to be just a precursor to something potentially worse…potentially deadly…and potentially enough to keep the mature lovers apart forever.
This book can be read as a standalone title.

I was given this book for an honest review.
Firstly I have to say that when I see the name Jayne Rylon, it is an automatic purchase. Every book in this series I have thoroughly loved. Each one seems to get better and better and this is no exception.
I fully support and applaud Jayne Rylon for taking what I am sure many authors and publishers consider a risk and publishing a book about 2 older people finding love.
This is a story with a little bit of a difference. Tom London is turning 50 and Wilhelmina Brown is in her mid-40. Love is love. I know this phrase has been used more and more and it is one I am passionate about. Just because they are more mature than the average couple in most books, does not minimise their love or their right to find it.
Tom has been a wonderful example to all the Hot Rods throughout the series and I always wanted to see him fall in love. He lost his wife tragically to cancer many years ago and in her memory continued a youth group where he found and adopted many of the men who went on to become part of the Hot Rods group. He is always supportive and the calm voice of reason when needed. However, above all else he is a lonely man.
Willie is the mother of one of the women who has married a member of the Hot Rods men. She too has been alone for a very long time as her husband was killed in a car accident. We all know life can be a roller coaster but will Willie be prepared to fight? The road to happiness for Tom and Willie isn’t as smooth as it could be, but it is so worth it in the end.
Drawn together by their children, Tom and Willie develop a very close friendship. Between them they are the guiding force and reason for the men and women of the Hot Roads group. Along the way feelings begin to form between them, but Willie is terrified to take it any further. Too afraid to let Tom in and take another chance at love. They are attracted to each other, but who will take the first giant leap?
This is romance at its sweetest and don’t think it isn’t passionate because it most assuredly is. Tom and Willie certainly show that just because you are getting older, fire and passion can and does exist, in fact they get rather steamy.
As I have found with all of Jayne Rylon’s books, this was well written and emotional
Another brilliant addition to what is one of my all-time favourite series. Well done Jayne Rylon you have another winner on your hands. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
If this series is not on your TBR list then I suggest that you get it immediately, you won’t be disappointed.
