Getting into my top choice sorority? Done.
Dating one of the hottest guys in the biggest fraternity? Done.
Failing out of College? Oops...
When Libby Gentry's parents receive the letter that she's failed out of school, Libby is forced to pack her Prada bag and head to work for her great aunt in rural Louisiana.
Nothing about tiny Elsbury, Louisiana entices her until she locks eyes with the southern charmer, Blaine Crabtree.
Libby is used to getting what she wants and Blaine is no exception, but as the two grow closer, bigger problems arise.
Libby doesn't know how much more pain her already paper-thin heart can take and when new opportunities in Chicago pop up she is presented with a difficult situation: wait for her redneck Romeo, or move on.

3.5 stars
I would love to rate this higher I really would.
There were times I laughed at Libby because she reminded me of the characters from Clueless and Legally Blonde. I wanted to yell in my kindle and say "OMG are you kidding me?"
It was said that Libby really didn't start out the way she turned out to be when she went to Louisiana. I mean how can you be so smart and then act like a dumb blonde? I get there are people out there who are like that. Then you have Blaine who actually see's right through Libby.
Let me start here. Libby wasn't doing so well at home in college. Her parents decided to send her to her aunts in LA for the summer. They wanted her to get her head straight. Little did they know it actually worked. She got a job, had some friends who liked who she was and not the act. In Chicago she lived a great life, with money and cars. She goes to LA and drives a junk car, and has to earn her money. Not just have it handed to her. She falls in love with her aunt and cousin. The people in the town take her in like she had lived there from birth. However there were some quirks that set her apart from the rest.
I liked the story though don't get me wrong. Libby and Blaine would be out and boom she would think of her ex boyfriend back home and then compare the two. No Libby girlfriend don't do that. That is a no go!! In her's and Blaine's relationship there were some rough patches. He would do or say something and Libby would go off, or not talk to him for days, weeks even. They would make up, then it started all over again. Yes young adults do this. I know I did when I was 20.
I just couldn't get over how clueless Libby was at times. You know that saying "You can take the girl out the city, but you can't take the city out the girl" Well in a way that doesn't pertain to Libby, however it does with Blaine. Instead of the city it would be the country! He was so lost it wasn't funny. He couldn't find is way if an arrow showed him his path.
Would I recommend this book? Sure I would. If you read young adult and like the clueless type of personality the Libby has. There is a second book called My Paper Wings. From what I read, it picks up where My Paper Heart left off.
Magan Vernon is a Young Adult and New Adult writer who lives with her family on a ranch in Texas. When not writing she spends her time fighting over fake boyfriends via social media.
