I received this ARC for an honest review.
This series is like no other Nicole Edwards series. It is raw, gritty and at times brutal; retaliations, injury, torture and death are an everyday way of life to the characters from the Southern Boy Mafia series. I do suggest you read Beautifully Brutal before you commence this book. Ashlynn Adorite lives in a world few would understand or even want too. Her whole life she has been surrounded by people who want to harm her, including her own father and uncle. Ashlynn is no stranger to danger; to her it is an everyday occurrence. She has fought hard for the life she leads and no one is going to get in her way, least of all herself and the feelings that she is developing for two men.
Jase Malone is her trusted bodyguard and the man whom she has been having sex with regularly for over a year. Leyton Matheson is the under boss of the Southern Boy Mafia and her brother Max’s best friend. He has also been in love with Ashlynn since he was a teenager.
Ashlynn sexual appetite is ferocious; daring and not afraid to go after who she wants and she wants Leyton. What she and Jase have works for her, but she needs more, although she is oblivious to the fact that Jase is in love with her. However both Ashlynn and Jase lust after Leyton, often fantasizing about what they would do to him, separately and together.
Leyton had a horrific childhood and teenage years thanks to an extremely abusive father who left not only physical scars but emotional ones. The only person he could count on was Max Adorite. Fiercely loyal to Max and the Adorite family, Leyton is determined not to do anything about his growing feelings for Ashlynn, particularly since Max warned him to keep away from Ashlynn.When circumstances, bring Leyton into 24 hour contact with both Ashlynn and Jase, no one counted on the torment and teasing that Ashlynn and Jase would put Leyton through. He is only human and when the inevitable happens and Leyton succumbs to his feelings for both Ashlynn and Jase, fireworks ensure.
This series is about family, definitely not your everyday kind of family for sure but family none the less. I love that family is not necessarily blood and this is so true for Leyton and Jase.
The writing is gripping and I really enjoyed the back story by Ms. Edwards as she shared Ashlynn, Leyton and Jase’s past and how it impacted their present. Love can heal and take away the pain of the past. I also appreciated that the story was told from all three points of view and I have to say that although this book is intense, I was at times amused by Max and Courtney’s interactions with the main characters.
If you are looking for a book that has well written and believable ménage then Beautifully Loyal is for you. If this series is not on your TBR list then I suggest that you get it immediately, you won’t be disappointed.
