Review by Maimeo's Angels: Stone Walls by A.M. Madden

Benjamin Stone has an unrealistic determination to rid the streets of New York from any and all drug dealing scum. That determination quickly moves him and his partner, Rob Withers, up the ranks to Senior Narcotics Agents within their precinct. A new case assisting the FBI has Ben facing the ghosts of his past. Those same ghosts are the very reason he moved to New York to become a cop.

Ella Parker is bright, beautiful, kind, and severely damaged as a result of one tragic night in her past. Having lived an idealistic life, that horrific night sent her pretty castle of cards crumbling down. Forced to start over, she leans on her best friend, Andrea Hensen, to help her move on. With Andrea’s help, Ella quickly settles into her new life in New York City. It’s a safe and comfortable existence, albeit very boring.

Their paths may have never crossed, if it hadn’t been for their meddling best friends. Rob and Andrea believe that Ben and Ella are soul mates that were meant to be together, a perfect match. There’s one slight problem. Ben and Ella want no part of this matchmaking scheme. Funny thing about fate, it’s inevitable.

Or is it?

Can a truth cause the possibility of a happily ever after to crash and burn? Ben and Ella learn that sometimes truth isn’t the best answer. Sometimes ignorance is most definitely bliss.

5 Stars
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really love A.M. Madden’s style of writing. Stone Walls is a stand-alone contemporary
romance novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This book is written from both perspectives and is
so good I stayed up half the night, just so I could find out what happens.
What happens when your present is dictated by your past? Both Ben Stone and Ella Parker
have so much in common, not least of which is that the trauma of their pasts has made it
virtually impossible to move on and enjoy life..
Ben is a New York cop, whose best friend is Rob, who also happens to be his partner. Ella,
running from tragedy moves to New York and initially stays with her best friend Andrea who
also happens to be Rob’s girlfriend.
Happy in their love Andrea and a reluctant Rob decide to match make. Andrea is convinced
that Ben and Ella are destined to be soul mates. Since it is Ben’s birthday Andrea insists that
the four of them go out to a night club to celebrate.
The attraction between Ben and Ella is almost instantaneous; however, for much different
reasons they both refuse to act on it. In fact, Ella can’t decide if she even likes Ben. Both are
determined to ignore it, what they don’t count on is Andrea and fate.
When an undercover operation gives Ben the potential to take down the very criminal whose
actions have impacted his life, things start to get extremely complicated. It is hard to review
this book, purely because I am concerned that if I say too much then it will be spoiled.
Honestly it is so good you need to read it for yourselves.
Their romance is hot, their chemistry is sizzling.
The action and suspense builds throughout the book. A.M. Madden writes so realistically that
she brings these characters to life, you can feel their pain and the tension as the situation
becomes more and more complex as both Ben and Ella’s past starts to collide with their
present. There is no way I could have predicted where the twists and turns throughout the
book was going to take me.
I loved her secondary characters Andrea and Rob, Jonathan, Ben’s brother and even FBI
agent Nick Farley. I really would love to read their stories.
I loved this book and will be reading more from this wonderfully talented author.
