I really love A.M. Madden’s style of writing. Back-Up is book one in the Back-Up series.
This was my first rock book by this author and I was interested to see how
Leila Marino has always wanted to be a singer. Currently singing in a bar with another group,
she is looking for more. When she lands her dream job as a back-up singer for Devil’s Lair
she knows she will also be going on tour with them. Jack Lair is the lead singer of the band
which is climbing the ladder of success, totally gorgeous and an obviously very popular with
the ladies.
The attraction between Leila and Jack is almost instantaneous although they both try hard to
resist it.
This story is told from the POV of both Leila and Jack which I really enjoyed. As I have
found with previous books from A.M. Madden, her characters seem as though they could be
real. I not only enjoyed reading about Leila and Jack, but also the secondary characters. There
are always so many layers to her books and Back-Up is no exception. You find you get to
know them all in some way and that is a credit to her writing style.
Inevitably they both give in to the attraction and chemistry between them. It would seem that
life both professionally and personally has finally taken off for Leila and Jack. Of course it
wouldn’t be a story without drama and drama comes back in the form of Jack’s past which
threatens the happiness he and Leila now have. Life becomes a roller coaster. What will
happen?
