Review by Maimeo's Angels: Friction by Sawyer Bennett

At the powerhouse law firm of Knight & Payne, winning comes first and ethics a distant second. Leary Michaels uses her female charms to daze opponents, and it’s always worked well—until now. On her most personal case yet, she finds herself going up against a defense attorney just as skilled, shameless, and seductive as she is.

Reeve Holloway has never met a woman as sure of her own sexuality, or as ruthless in wielding it, as Leary is. But he won’t be toyed with. What Leary starts, he’ll finish—in the courtroom, the bedroom, or any-damn-place he wants. The sex is uninhibited, electrifying, and absolutely against the rules. Reeve’s job is to ruin Leary’s case…even if it destroys her in the process and costs him the woman he’s come to love.

4.5 star

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.
Friction is another winner for Sawyer Bennett. This time we are back to the legal arena. This
is the story of Leary Michaels and her opposing council Reeve Holloway. Leary is unafraid to
use her sexuality and thrives on a challenge.  She is a lawyer working for Knight & Payne, a
firm who represent the underdogs, those who are often overlooked, never the big
corporations. Strong and determined, Leary fights for what she believes in.
However, Leary may well have met her match in Reeve. He is equally determined to win and
follows the letter of the law religiously and always follows the company line. His firm
represents the big corporations, the banks that foreclose and the insurance companies.
What neither of them takes into consideration is the almost instantaneous attraction they feel
for each other. Despite trying to resist, they succumb to the sexual chemistry that is between
them.
But will it last? Can their blossoming love survive the legal battles in the courtroom?
I always enjoy reading a Sawyer Bennett novel, her characters; particularly the women are so
real. This book is no exception and I really loved the development of all the characters. There
was romance, love, humour and sadness in Friction and as usually happens, I didn’t want this
one to end.
I look forward to reading more of Sawyer Bennett’s books.
