SURVIVING ICE Synopsis: The USA TODAY bestselling author of the Ten Tiny Breaths series and Burying Water—which Kirkus Reviews called “a sexy, romantic, gangster-tinged page-turner”—returns with a new novel packed with romance, plot twists, and psychological suspense. Ivy Lee, a talented tattoo artist who spent the early part of her twenties on the move, is looking for a place to call home. She thinks she might have finally found it working in her uncle’s tattoo shop in San Francisco. But all that changes when a robbery turns deadly, compelling her to pack up her things yet again. When they need the best, they call him. That’s why Sebastian Riker is back in California, cleaning up the mess made after a tattoo shop owner with a penchant for blackmail got himself shot. But it’s impossible to get the answers he needs from a dead body, leaving him to look elsewhere. Namely, to the twenty-something-year-old niece who believes this was a random attack. Who needs to keep believing that until Sebastian finds what he’s searching for. Ivy has one foot out of San Francisco when a chance encounter with a stranger stalls her departure. She’s always been drawn to intense men, so it’s no wonder that she now finds a reason to stay after all, quickly intoxicated by his dark smile, his intimidating strength, and his quiet control. That is, until Ivy discovers that their encounter was no accident—and that their attraction could be her undoing.
Having read Chasing River, the book prior to this one, I was extremely excited when the Paperback ARC arrived from Simon & Schuster Australia in the mail. I actually squealed with delight!!!
Ivy is very talented tattoo artist that has returned to the US after sometime in Ireland with her cousin at his tattoo shop. She is an independent girl, who doesn’t stay in one place too long. She currently works for her Uncle Ned in his tattoo shop. She is, in my opinion, a very hard chick that goes about doing what she wants when she wants. Why wouldn’t you at her age??
One day while working, she goes to get lunch, when she returns, she overhears her Uncle chatting to a customer, then two men come in the shop with guns, she hides….overhears some gunfire and once she hears the men leave, comes out to see what has happened. Her Uncle and the customer are both dead. She calls the cops……has no idea why this has happened…and can only recall certain things.
Sebastian is on a mission though, intent on getting some information…does he get the info he needs from Ivy, does he get the tape????!!! You will have to read the story to find out. He is strong, determined and somewhat fierce!! I loved how Ivy goes about getting things done, her support, her attempt at getting details from Sebastian, her determination at wanting to know why her Uncle was killed. Sebastian is certainly a bit of a dark horse but I loved him. He was trained to be the way he was and you can tell from the book that he does his job well.
I loved the ending, loved the way K A Tucker wrote this book, I would highly recommend it!!!
I was given this Paperback book by the publisher Simon & Schuster for an honest
review
Wow what can I say K.A Tucker is new to me and I was worried that
having not read the previous 3 books in this series, would I understand and enjoy
this book. I should never have given it a second thought I was hooked from page
one ......Sebastian is a ex navy seal who works for a old friends security company and is in San Francisco looking into the running of the tattoo parlor and is also looking for the missing video tape....
Ivy and Sebastian connect but are they using each other to get what they want. She wants to move on and he needs to solve this case.
Surviving Ice is a complicated romance and will keep you hooked right to the end. Added to this a murder, some mystery and of course the missing video tape, you couldn't want for much more.
I will certainly be going back to read the other books in this series. This was brilliantly written and a welcome change to the normal romance stories that are out there.
And don’t miss the previous titles in the Burying Water Series!

About K.A. Tucker:
Born in small-town Ontario, K.A. Tucker published her first book at the age of six with the help of her elementary school librarian and a box of crayons. She currently resides in a quaint town outside of Toronto with her husband, two beautiful girls, and an exhausting brood of four-legged creatures.
