Reviews by Jackie & Marina: Appealed (The Legal Briefs #3) by Emma Chase

When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate - and prized - parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Christian Louboutins.

Brent has never let the loss of his leg in a childhood accident affect his ability to lead a fulfilling life. He sets high goals–and then he reaches them.

And now he has his sights set on Kennedy.
**
When Kennedy looks at Brent Mason, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue-worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell.

She’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore - she’s a DC prosecutor with a long winning streak behind her. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case and she thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.

But things aren’t exactly working out that way.

Because every fiery exchange has her wondering if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. Each argument and objection only makes him want her more. In the end, Brent and Kennedy may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.

APPEALED is a sexy, humorous romance about first crushes, second chances and the final verdict of the heart.

I was given this book by Netgalley for an honest review

I was so sorry to see this series come to an end but what an ending. Emma Chase has outdone herself if that was possible.

This is Brent and Kennedy's story and it's about second chance romance and friends to lovers. They were childhood friends that grew apart and now they face each other across a courtroom, one of them a defense lawyer and one of them a prosecutor. The attraction is still there but can they put the past behind them....
Brent has it all, a heart of gold, he will do anything to help and protect his friends and lover and of course he is hot with a dirty mouth. The banter and the insults between them are hilarious.
She looks me straight in the face. "I could never be with someone like you- you have the maturity of a 14 year old boy" Kennedy hisses
I raise my glass. "And you have the chest of one"
Kennedy is not the awkward teenager he once knew and she will make him work for any friendship or relationship that they might have.
I love this story it made me laugh and it made me cry. Its fast paced, funny and very hot but most of all its a love story.
"I'm in love with you. And if it takes awhile for you to wrap your head around that-to wrap your heart around it- then I'll wait. Because you're worth waiting for. You always were."
I loved that Jake and the rest of the gang came into the story and I'm sorry to see this series end it will be one I will re read over and over again.

As with everything Emma writes there is always humor involved! This book isn't different and I absolutely love this series so much!!

I was sad to see that this is the last book but what the author has written will have you hooked!!!

I couldn't put it down! I was intrigued by the characters, delighted to hear how the rest of the gang are doing and excited as well!

Reconnecting with someone from your past while working on a case you are both on, has Brent reeling!
I just loved their interaction, the way he was sincerely sorry for things that happened in the past as well as how their battle went in the courtroom!

The heat in the story packs a punch too, oh yes, yes!!!
I think Emma has truly done this series justice, the words she writes, her characters, the ending, the whole humor aspect makes me always want to read whatever she creates!
The Legal Brief series is incredible and absolute must read!!

By day, Emma Chase is a devoted wife and mother of two who resides in a small, rural town in New Jersey. By night she is a keyboard crusader, toiling away the hours to bring her colorful characters and their endless antics to life. She has a long standing love/hate relationship with caffeine.

Emma is an avid reader. Before her children were born she was known to consume whole books in a single day. Writing has also always been a passion and with the 2013 release of her debut romantic comedy, Tangled, the ability to now call herself an author is nothing less than a dream come true.
