Then, the dreams start. And in the dreams—memories. Memories of a girl named Sookie who couldn’t count on love or friendship, never mind forever. Memories of a library and a boy called Isaac and secrets made in private that destroyed his world. The memories seem real, but who do they belong to? When Nash and Willow discover the truth, life as they know it unravels. The bridge between this life and the next is shored up by blood and bone and memory. Sometimes, that bridge leads to the place we’ve always wanted to be.

This was the first book that I’ve read by Eden Butler and wow!

This was a whirlwind journey that takes the reader through the lives of three couples.  Each couple was from a different time in history. One was from the 1920s, the next was from the 1970s and the last was from present day.

The couple in present day are the main characters – Nash and Willow.

Nash is a young African-American entrepreneur who is creating a new security computer program for big companies. Willow, who lives above Nash in the same building, is also trying to get her own cupcake business off the ground.

Willow and Nash meet one night when Nash is trying to get some sleep and Willow has her music playing too loudly. Nash goes upstairs and knocks on Willow’s door to ask her to turn it down. What greets Nash is a boho chic woman who immediately brings him into her apartment and tells him he needs his aura cleansed.

Nash doesn’t know what to think of Willow. He likes to call her a “crazy white chick.” He just knows that he feels this connection to her. What begins to happen to Nash after meeting Willow is hard for him to grasp. He starts having these extremely realistic dreams of couples in history.

Each couple that both Nash and Willow dream of seem familiar to them both. Each couple are also mixed race. Nash begins dreaming of Sookie and Dempsey from the 1920s during the Prohibition. What he doesn’t realise is that Willow is also dreaming of the same couples.

Some parts of the book were a bit hard to keep up with but I still thoroughly enjoyed the stories. It’s a book that you have to read to the end to see what really happens and why Willow and Nash were meant to meet.

In the end, it was a gorgeous romance and shows you how mixed raced couples had to fight to be with each other throughout history.

About The Author
Eden Butler is an editor and writer of Mystery, Suspense and Contemporary Romance novels and the nine-times great-granddaughter of an honest-to-God English pirate. This could explain her affinity for rule breaking and rum.
When she’s not writing or wondering about her possibly Jack Sparrowesque ancestor, Eden patiently waits for her Hogwarts letter, edits, reads and spends way too much time watching rugby, Doctor Who and New Orleans Saints football.
She is currently living under teenage rule alongside her husband in southeast Louisiana. Please send help.
