I’ve always had an inkling that Nate has wanted more from me, and it’s become more and more apparent lately, but me and Nate? That can never happen.

            Nate’s Godiva chocolate and I’m just regular old Hershey. Nate’s Armani and I’m Walmart brand on a good day. He’s pure class and I’m just white trash. I’ll never let myself dull his shine. And now that we’re adults, Nate’s on one side of the law and I’m on the other. Too many things stand between me and the man of my dreams.

            I try to make an effort to take shallow breaths so I don’t draw in too much of his manly scent, but it’s no damn use. His smell assaults my senses, making me feel loopy and lightheaded. My insides warm, and the whole thing pisses me off. What did he do today? Roll around in oranges and manliness before he picked me up? He smells ridiculous.

            “Crack a damn window, Nate. It’s stifling in here,” I snap out.

            Nate shoots a panty-melting smile my way like he knows what his smell does to me before saying, “Till, show some respect to the uniform. It’s Officer Trent.” His lips twitch in a barely there smile.

            His bicep flexes as he grips the steering wheel to make a left turn, and I blush, thinking of all the ways I want to respect the hell out of that uniform. You know? With me under him. Me over him. Me on my knees in front of him. I smile. If he only knew how much I respected that uniform.

            God, get your shit together, Tillie. Stop thinking about the hot cop you’re in love with and figure out how to get the hell out of this car.

I cannot let Nate take me down to the station. It’s unfortunate, this whole bounced-check situation. It really is, but it truly was unavoidable. I think of my good-for-nothing mother and roll my eyes. I’ve got to figure out another way to keep paying her debts off, because cleaning apartments at the retirement home isn’t cutting it. I’m not making enough money to feed myself and support my mother’s bad habits. But I refuse to let her contact Millie and upset her. I’ll pay my mother’s gambling debts forever if it means Millie can live free and clear of our mom.

            I look to my right out the car window and notice Hannah, Millie’s best friend, driving her old, blue Ford Escort next to us. We’re coming up on a light, so I scoot closer to Nate across the bench seat of his cruiser until I’m pressed against his side, putting my plan into action. But my stupid pulse still kicks up a notch at our proximity, my body betraying me in the worst possible way.

            His head turns to mine and our lips are a mere breath apart.

“What are you doing, Till?” he asks, his eyes genuine, and I almost feel bad for what I’m about to do.

            Running my hand up from his knee to his thigh, I lean closer to him until our noses brush. “What do you want me to do, Officer Trent?” I breathe across his lips as my hand ghosts across the zipper of his blue trousers.

            We stop at the light, and Nate closes his eyes and leans his head back against the headrest on a groan. I ignore the wetness that floods my panties and my desire to really grip his cock and give it a good stroke.

            “Another time,” I whisper before quickly sliding back across the bench seat and throwing my door open. I don’t even slam it behind me as I run across the lane, my arms flailing, sweating like a whore in church.

What a great start to my day, this novella is everything you need to feel so darn good.

“Stay still, Tillie. I’m sick and tired of chasing your crazy ass around town,” I snarl out to the insane female I have pressed up against the wall. I’m nervous but excited. My gut says to run away, but the glass of wine I just finished off is telling me this is an excellent idea. Feeling brave, I hold the phone out at arm’s reach and take a selfie of me sitting on top of my unmade bed. Times like these make me glad I’m not great about washing the small amount of makeup I wear off before bed. Typically, I just use a baby wipe right before I fall asleep to wipe off whatever bit of mascara survived the day. Today’s makeup, though light, is still present. I’m spread across the bed in my tiny black shorts and my favorite red tank top with a shelf bra built in. Before logic can make its way into my brain I hit send. I review the picture and instantly regret fills my stomach. I felt so brave thirty seconds ago. But staring at it now, I see the small rolls of my stomach, and my chest needs more support than the tank itself can provide. Those are not perky twenty-year-old breasts. Those are the breasts of a woman who’s edging toward thirty and has had a baby. I’m ashamed of the dark circles under my eyes. Why did I send that pic? Asher: Fuck My heart sinks. He probably sees all my flaws, too. In a dimly lit house they might not have been noticeable in passing. But on a phone screen, where you can zoom in they’re just there for the seeing. Asher: Wow. That’s an incredible sight. I’m unable to conjure a complete thought, nothing sexy, witty, or interesting. I’m frozen, knowing he’s staring at a photo of me, in awe. Asher: Ok, my turn. I’m not in any way prepared for what he sends. I’ve seen him shirtless. Hell, I can’t believe I’ve seen him nearly naked in person, felt him in the palm of my hand. And still, I’m in shock at the sight of him stretched out on his bed in just a pair of thin gray sweats, his hand on top wrapped around the outline of his long, thick cock. I stare for too long at that hand holding that cock firmly. I almost don’t even notice the smirk on his face. He knows how attracted I am to him. Just being around him makes me weak, and by the look on his face I’m guessing he knows how turned on this sight is making me. My resolve weakens. It’s not even just his hard body or amazing face. It’s the patience he’s shown my daughter. It’s his willingness to spend his time and skills to help me. It’s how he came home to relieve his parents of the stress and pressure of losing a son and attempting to run a business. It’s everything I don’t deserve to hold so close to my heart. What a brilliant debut novel by Miranda Elaine not sure where she goes from here but I would say the only way  is up for this very talented author.
Asher Kade was the guy in high school that everyone wanted to be friends with he was the guy every girl swooned over especially Temperance Price but even though he knew she had a crush on him the timing wasn’t right and he went off to college and fulfill the big dreams he had for his life. 
Temperance Price never left her home town of Red Oak and even though life hadn’t turned out the way she dreamed it would she wouldn’t change a thing her daughter Ellie is her world. Temperance only has two people in her life her best friend Leigh and Ellie she does 3 jobs to keep a roof over her and Ellie’s head and she is struggling to keep it all together. 
A chance meeting for Asher and Temperance brings back all the feelings they both had as teenagers but will the timing be right this time or will the secret Temperance is hiding tear them apart.....
I loved the characters in this book and I really hope that Miranda Elaine gives us another story featuring Leigh she deserves her own book. A single mum second chance romance and once you add in how beautifully written this book is you get a perfect love story. Great job and looking forward to more from this very talented author. 

I believe that this is Miranda Elaine’s debut novel and she is off to a strong start.

Temperance Price is a single mum, trying to give her daughter Ellie whatever she needs. Kade Asher is a childhood friend who left town as soon as he possibly could.

When tragedy strikes he returns home, only to find the quiet friend he left behind has grown into a beautiful, feisty woman with a daughter who is equally as smart and sassy as her mother.  

Now Kade has Tempie in his sights, he wants to get to know her and is not going to take no for an answer.  

The writing was solid and the characters of Tempie and Kade were easy to relate too. I loved the interaction between Tempie and her daughter Ellie.

There is a little intrigue woven into the story which I found added an extra layer to the story.
