Baker finds herself in a position where she gives birth and her boyfriend decides to bring his new girlfriend to the birth of their son! Things just started going down hill more and more after this.
When Copper gets a call from one of his buddies, Shade, to help his daughter while him and his family are away, he of course agrees. After helping move Baker out of the house with her dead beat boyfriend, he finds himself desperate to help this woman who clearly wasn't well. What he didn't count on was finding himself easily falling into a domestic life he never saw himself having. He loves coming home to Baker and her infant son, Holt. But Cooper knows he's not good enough for Baker.
Baker, after suffering through months of darkness and depression, finally decides it's time to leave her boyfriend who refuses to help in anyway raise their son. When her Dad sends his friend, Copper, she can't help but admire his strong and good looks. She starts to realise that she needs help and goes to see her doctor who helps her realise she's suffering with PPD. Copper goes above and beyond to help her and ends up doing a lot more than she expected with her infant son. She doesn't know what she'd do without him. But when she over hears a conversation that Copper has with someone she sees that she's imposed on his life enough and jumps at the opportunity to move out.
This book is so real! I felt myself relating to both of these characters on SO many levels. Post partum depression isn't mentioned enough in books, especially romances and I loved that LLV wrote a character like Baker. And Copper, who is an ex-con, who is trying to find his way through life after being in prison for 13 years. Not only is he trying to pick up the pieces at the corrupt corporation his father left behind, but he's also trying to find his self-worth in love.
I cannot recommend this book and this series enough!
