This novel takes off running with action and does not let up until the last page. The novel centers around Hadley Rivers who is a country music singer and is being stalked and a crazy fan. Her father has hired the best in the business to look after her safety and her best friend and manager has created a fake relationship with a NHL player to help distract the stalker.
And of course all seems well for a short time. When the stalker makes an appearance, Hadley must leave LA. She is sent to Blake Evans, who is charged with protecting her until the stalker issue is dealt with. He currently is rebuilding a ranch left to him by his grandfather. Don’t be surprised when you fall in love with the horses. The author has even given these secondary characters a personality.
The best part of this book is that Hadley is a strong lead female, who is a superstar but her persona is far removed from the stereotypical superstar attitude. I enjoyed this character. I also enjoyed the banter between Hadley and Blake. It was a great mix of sarcasm, wit and sincerity. This novel was based around a strong pace and timeline. Neither rushing nor dragging, the author knew exactly when to bring in the details and what to leave to the readers imagination. The dynamics between the main and the secondary characters bring this novel to life. And just when you decide that you have it all figured out, a new twist is thrown into the mix.
Blake Evans is a hot alpha cowboy with a great sense of humor. I did want a little more of his back story, perhaps that is because I enjoyed reading about him so much. He is a smart agent and a willing cowboy with a signature move that will get you “Roped In” to this novel.
