I love hockey books so I was excited to read this debut novel by Monty Jay. This was an entertaining read that captured my interest and kept it from the first to the last chapter.
This is NHL player Bishop Maverick and Valor Sullivan’s story. I found the characters easy to relate to and I really liked them. For a debut novel, I was impressed with Ms. Jay’s storytelling. This was a story that was well written and had me emotional at times. Her words are powerful and the journey that Bishop and Valor have to travel to get to their happily ever after was one that really got to me.
Bishop is a man alone, he has focused all his drive and determination into his hockey career; they have become his family and I found that a little sad. Valor, is the daughter of one of his best friends, eight years younger and to him should be off limits. I really liked her, she is sassy, feisty and has a mouth that has no filter; such a great character.
It was a pleasure to watch the growth of both Bishop and Valor as the story progressed and I couldn’t put it down. I am excited to see what the author writes next as Monty Jay is an author to keep your eye on.
I love everything about hockey so as soon as I read the blurb for this Love & Hockey I was excited and let me say this book did not disappoint, I was surprised to read that this was the debut novel for Monty Jay because you would never have guessed from the writing this was the first published novel and I’m sure Ms Jay has a exciting time ahead of her if her future stories are anything like this one.
Bishop Maverick is focused on his career as a NHL player, his team and coaching staff have become his family and friends and that’s why Valor Sullivan is so special to him because she is his best friends daughter. Valor is also looking for a hockey career, she wants to follow in her fathers footsteps and she has a promising career ahead of her if she can get past the feelings she has for the man who has watched grow into a woman.....
This is one of those special books that draws you in from the first few pages, the story captivates you’re and the characters are easy to relate too but what takes this book to another level is watching the growth of Bishop and Valor over the years. I’m so excited to see where this very talented author takes us next and I highly recommend this gem to all sports romance lovers.
