About the Book
The problem with Wake was that he was understandable. He was the type of villain that literally scared the absolute shit out of you because you knew that under the right circumstances, you could end up exactly like him.
Which, sadly, was the case for me.
I’d done the exact same thing as Wake, and now I was a murderer just like him.
Did I know that I did wrong? Hell yes.
Did I regret that? Hell no.
Did I plan on changing a thing? Also, no.
Was I falling in love with a man that should scare the shit out of me? A resounding hell yes.
What an incredible start to a new series!!
Dutch and Wake's story gripped me from the start and held my interest all the way through.
I loved that Dutch is a psychologist who has a passion for helping those who have suffered greatly at the hands of others. She heard what Wake had done and knew that he could help her with a certain little problem that she had.
Wake never imagined getting a visitor in prison who would grab his attention so fiercely as a certain Doctor but then again, there really is no one quite like Dutch. From her unique name, to her unique personality.
When Wake is somehow released early from prison, he knows that he needs to look up the good Doctor and see what she's up to and help protect her from the storm that is sure to be coming her way. Even better is knowing that she lives in the same town as him, Accident (I seriously love the names of Lani's towns!).
This story was incredible from the get go and I loved how Dutch and Wake's relationships developed throughout the story. As usual, I gobbled this book up and could barely put it down to sleep.
I can't wait to see what comes next!
