"Do you want to dance?"
She nods.
I hear my brother make a noise and pretend I didn't. She said yes, and I'm going to cling to that.
Here might be the last time I ever get to hold her in my arms, and I'm going to take it.
"I love this song."
I love you.
"Why is that?" I ask.
Her arms move to my chest, and I wonder if she can feel the pounding of my heart. My nerves are bowstrings, being pulled taut before the arrow is ready to fly. Everything inside of me is strained, but I keep it together.
Sydney and I move, the world falling away as it always does when I am with her. Gone is the hurt of my past, the uncertainty of my present, and the regret of the future ahead. Right now, I have her.

I don't care if the sky lights on fire because she's all I see.
"Listen to her." Sydney's voice is quiet and pensive. "Listen to her talk about him giving up and her asking him to stay."

I’m not sure I have the words to do Fight for Me justice, Ms Michaels has given us a beautifully written emotion love story. Declan and Sydney’s second chance romance has me hooked from the first page and there was no putting down until I had read the final word and even then I wanted more. You know you have picked a special book up when everything else around you no longer matters and that’s exactly how I felt whilst reading this book.
Declan abd Sydney were childhood sweethearts, they had there life mapped out and Sydney thought everything was fine until the night Declan walked away without an explanation. What do you do when the man you thought you would be spending the rest of your life with moves out of town for good....
And more to the point what do you do when you find he is back in town .....
This is a couple who never really moved on, they are meant to be together in fact the reason they aren’t together is because Declan loved her enough to let her go, he loved her enough to walk away. The chemistry is intense and once you add in the emotion and the angst you get one of the best second chance romances of 2020. From start to finish, Corinne Michaels wove a story that drew me in and kept me captivated throughout with this emotional roller coaster of a read. This is a second chance at love story that will rip you apart and then put you back together. I freely admit that at times I was sobbing as Ms. Michaels put me through the ringer with Fight For Me and then put me back together again.
Declan Arrowood, like his brothers, had no intention of ever returning home, however, his manipulating father on his death, leaves him no choice. He left behind broken hearted Sydney who could not understand why he left her to suddenly.
Declan knows that he hurt Sydney unbearably and also understands that she still has not forgiven him, after all he has never forgiven himself. However for both Declan and Sydney to move on, they both need both need to face their past. I loved how seriously Declan takes his role of big brother and the relationship he has with all three of his brothers is heart warming.
Just when it seems that Declan and Sydney may finally get the happily ever after that they both so deserve, fate steps in. This was the part of the book that had me reeling, I couldn’t believe what I was reading and was close to yelling at Ms. Michaels.
This book is emotional, gripping, a story of love, romance and overcoming ones fears, of digging deep and facing truths and never giving up. This is a book that you need to read for yourselves and left me with a serious book hangover.
