Blog Tour: Gotta Be Bayou by Erin Nicholas

How do you get over a woman you never should have been, ahem, under in the first place?

Gotta Be Bayou, an all-new grumpy-sunshine, small town romance from New York Times bestselling author Erin Nicholas is now available!

Just when FBI special agent Spencer Landry had decided to forget about investigative journalist Maxine-Max-Keller and their one hot night together, there's a threat made against her and Spencer's protective instincts get all riled up. Again.

So now they're shacking up on the Louisiana bayou and pretending to be in love so he can keep Max safe until the guy is apprehended.

Considering their chemistry and that he can not stop thinking about the gorgeous-and-doesn't-know-it, smart-mouthed, bold-and-yet-vulnerable redhead, this could be a fun few days, right?

Nope. She's all wrong for him.

And she hasn't forgotten he can be kind of a jerk.

Sure, the naked-times are great, but he told her exactly what he wants— a bubbly, sweet school teacher who bakes him brownies and loves to cuddle—and Max ain't it.

Max not only doesn't bake, no one has ever called her sweet. And cuddling? Shudder.

Plus his bossiness is super annoying for someone who's been taking care of herself all her life. But now they're stuck together and dammit, besides being hot and very good with his mouth, Spencer is pretty irresistible with baby goats, little kids, and attempts at baking. And don't forget alpha-protective. All of which makes her stomach feel very swoop-y. No wonder her clothes keep falling off.

But this is a temporary situation and they're only faking it. So falling for the guy is a terrible idea.

She really should have kept that in mind.

Keep reading for a look inside Gotta Be Bayou!

She’d fallen asleep on him.

Literally.

Well, her feet were on him anyway. Actually, her legs from the knees down.

She’d started just propped against the opposite end of the couch, with her crossword puzzle book open on the arm. She’d mostly focused on the puzzle, but he’d noticed her smiling and even laughing a couple of times at the TV.

Eventually, she’d propped her head on her hand and just watched. Then her eyes started drifting shut. Then her head was on the arm of the couch.

But when she wanted to get comfortable, she got comfortable.

She’d scooted down to rest her head on the couch cushion and stretched out. Including putting her feet in Spencer’s lap.

He’d had to catch her heels in his hands to keep her from kicking him in the balls.

And then he’d just held her feet, rubbing his thumbs along the arches of her feet, and absorbing the sound of her contented sigh and loving the way she cuddled deeper into the couch.

He’d wanted her to feel safe and be comfortable and relaxed.

Mission accomplished.

The woman was sound asleep.

At 8:30 p.m.

The episode ended and Spencer realized he didn’t remember a thing from what he’d watched. He’d been paying attention to Max.

Of course he’d started with the way her soft cotton shorts molded to the curve of her hips and ass. The way the matching tank hugged her waist and breasts. There was no way he could have ignored that. He was drawn to this woman and the part that didn’t confuse him was his attraction to her body.

Now, having those sweet curves within touching distance again and barely covered, absolutely drew his attention. But with her asleep, and him unable to really do anything, he also had the chance to simply study her up close.

Her eyelashes were pale and had a reddish hue. Of course they did. She was a redhead. But he’d never thought about the color of a woman’s eyelashes before. Now he was fascinated. Did she wear mascara? He was going to have to pay attention to see the next time she was awake.

She stirred, shifting, moving her feet against his hands and he stroked a hand up one calf. It wasn’t perfectly smooth. There was just a slight prickle, but he didn’t mind at all. In fact, he wanted to feel that against his thighs and hips as she wrapped her legs around him. It was real and he wanted to feel her legs in every stage from freshly shaved to haven’t-had-a-chance-for-days.

Wow, she was truly asleep. He should make her go to bed.

“Max?” he asked softly.

She didn’t even wiggle.

“Max?” he asked a little louder, squeezing her foot gently.

She just breathed in deeply, then out.

He should just carry her into bed. He could just scoop her up and take her into the bedroom.

Spencer shifted her legs so he could stand. Then he leaned over. She was on her side, so he pushed gently against her shoulder, rolling her to her back. She went with a sigh, one hand moving to rest on her chest. Perfect. Spencer slid an arm under her knees and one behind her back.

And everything was great until he started to lift.

She came awake suddenly. She kicked her legs, flailed her arms, and her head lifted instinctively to look around. Her forehead hit Spencer in the chin. Hard.

His head snapped back and his teeth clamped down on his tongue.

“Fuck!” he swore in surprised pain.

“Ahhh!” she yelled.

She was still kicking and waving her arms and he unceremoniously dropped her one foot back onto the couch cushions.

“Max! It’s me!”

She kicked out, her shin connecting with his thigh.

That fucking hurt too.

“Max!” He pinned her arms down against the couch. “Max! It’s Spencer!”

Her eyes were wide and not fully focused.

She just yelled again. “Ahhhhh!”

Dammit. The cottage next door was going to think they needed to call the cops.

Which was Zander.

Spencer did not want Zander showing up here, grinning and smirking and writing up a report about how Spencer had tried to sweetly carry Max to bed and she’d thought he was attacking her.

“Maxine!” he said sharply, putting a leg across hers to keep her from kicking and, against his better judgement, placing a hand over her mouth. “Stop it. It’s me.”

Her eyes flew to his as he put his face directly in front of hers.

“It’s Spencer.”

She suddenly went still. Her gaze focused and she stopped moving and he felt her pull in a long breath.

He waited another few seconds, making sure that she realized who was holding her down.

Slowly he removed his hand. “Okay?” he asked.

She drew in another long breath and blew it out. She nodded. “Yeah.”

“Holy shit, Max.”

“What happened?”

“You were sleeping like the dead, so I decided to carry you into the bedroom. And you turned into the Tasmanian devil.”

“Well, I'm not used to people picking me up in the middle of the night.”

That made him chuckle. “It's not even 9 p.m.”

“Well… still.”

He liked that she was at a loss for words. That was unusual.

Slowly, he became aware of the fact that he was pinning her to the couch. With almost his entire body.

In spite of the fact that she’d been fighting off an intruder in her imagination and he’d been fearing for his manhood, his eyes, nose, and jaw, it didn't take long for his body to register that this felt really nice.

The couch was big enough for the two of them to lie together. He wasn't entirely on top of her, but almost half of him was pinning more than half of her to the cushions.

“I, um… didn’t mean to squash you. Self-preservation instinct.”

She smiled. “You're not squashing me.” Her voice was soft and a little breathless.

Their gazes locked. “I did this, honestly, to keep you from hurting me or yourself. But mostly me.”

She wet her lips and nodded. “I believe you.”

“So, I could probably get up now. You seem a lot more calm.”

“Funny, I don't exactly feel calm.”

His heart kicked against his rib cage. A moment ago she’d been ready to claw his eyes out. The moment before that she’d been so deeply asleep that she hadn't realized he was even there. But now, her gaze was hot and she was breathing fast, and she was definitely not wearing a bra with this pajama set.

Spencer’s entire body responded. “You fell asleep really fast. And very deep,” he said, his voice husky.

“I often fall asleep on the couch. Never that deeply, though. I guess I felt really safe with you.”

Damn, he liked that. He felt the corner of his mouth curl. “Until I tried to pick you up.”

“Sorry. Instinct.”

“Honestly the cop part of me is very glad that your instinct is to fight hard when someone does something unexpected.”

“Good.” She gave a little nod. “I guess that means you just need to be sure I'm expecting anything you do.”

He nodded slowly and his gaze dropped to her mouth. “Good idea. For instance, if I was going to kiss you, I should make sure that you knew that.”

She nodded. “Right.”

“Max.”

“Yeah?”

“I'm going to kiss you.”

“Good.”

Blog Tour: Making Whoopie by Erin Nicholas

mw bt banner

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen...

Making Whoopie, an all-new not-to-be-missed marriage of convenience romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Erin Nicholas, is available now!

MW Cover

This marriage of convenience is about to get sticky. Getting hitched for the health insurance is not Jocelyn Asher’s idea of romance.
But the hospital quote has really frosted her cookies, and suddenly, “I’m rich. We should just get married,” sounds a whole lot more swoony.
Especially when the man proposing is this gorgeous. And takes her to parties featuring champagne and petit fours. She’s a sucker for anything with bubbles or icing. And just like that she finds herself married to a near stranger.
Grant Lorre is usually allergic to spontaneity.
So why did he ask the beautiful small-town baker he had a one-night stand with to marry him? Somehow watching her lick batter off a whisk--not a euphemism--made a wedding and a little fraud seem like a sweet idea.
They’ll just play house and make some whoopie--pies, of course--for a few months and then move on with their separate lives. Until then, bring on the cream filling. And that is a euphemism.
But as things heat up even outside of the kitchen, they quickly realize there’s no recipe to follow when it comes to love.

Excerpt
No one fell in love over cheesy potatoes. That was ridiculous. There was nothing sexy about cheesy potatoes. Or potatoes without cheese, for that matter. But lust? Well, that was a possibility. Apparently. Because watching Grant Lorre eat cheesy potatoes across her best friend’s mother’s dining room table was making Jocelyn Asher hot. Of course, Maggie McCaffery’s cheesy potatoes were award-winning. Seriously. She’d taken home the purple ribbon four times from the Dubuque County Fair and twice from the Iowa State Fair. And Grant seemed to agree that they were delicious. He’d made a sexy groaning sound when he’d first taken a bite, and Josie had been mesmerized as his lips closed around the tines of his fork. Never mind how her heart rate had picked up when he’d turned the fork and licked it. She was a mess. Purple ribbon or not, Josie was pretty sure that getting worked up over watching a man eat potatoes meant she was hard up. She took a long drink of iced tea and tried to remember the last time she’d had sex. If she wasn’t forgetting anyone—and how sad would that be—the last time had been with Ben Davis. After Kara Davis’s, now Tibbin’s, wedding. Last week Kara had been into Buttered Up, the bakery where Josie worked with her best friend Zoe, to order a miniature version of her wedding cake to celebrate their first anniversary. Josie sighed. That had to explain the sexy potato thing going on across the table. It had to. But then Grant laughed at something Aiden, his best friend and Zoe’s fiancĂ©—yes, it was one big happy group at this table—said, and Josie felt her neglected lady parts clench. Yeah, it wasn’t the potatoes. Thankfully. Kind of. As weird as getting turned on by potatoes might be, it might have been preferable to being turned on by the man who had been coming into the bakery nearly every morning for the past two weeks, but hadn’t so much as asked her to have a cup of coffee with him. He’d asked her if the blueberries in the muffins were locally sourced. He’d asked her if they had any gluten-free cinnamon scones. He’d asked her for a lemon slice for his cup of hot water. But that was pretty much the extent of the things he’d asked her over the course of the time they’d known each other. Oh, and he’d caught her when she’d fallen off a ladder. Twice. Very gallantly. He’d swept her up before she’d hit the floor. Like a freaking knight in shining armor. But both times he’d simply set her on her feet and gone on with his day. She, on the other hand, was now getting hot and bothered by side dishes.

This is book three in the Hot Cakes Series and it’s just as enjoyable as the first two in this entertaining series. What can I say about Grant Lorre apart from he is hot and I fell really hard for this man in fact I think he is my new book boyfriend, I love a man with a sense of humour and this guy made me laugh and left me smiling like a Cheshire Cat. Jocelyn Asher is doing what she loves, baking but it’s not paying the bills, she is just jogging along but she will never ask for help especially from a man she is sleeping with.....
This book is based around a couple you can’t help loving, the chemistry is sizzling, the romance is adorable and the banter is witty but it’s the friendships and the loyalty from all the characters in this series that takes these books to another level. I was captivated from the first page to the last line and I can’t wait for more baking shenanigans from the residents of Appleby.

The third book in Ms. Nicholas latest series and it was just as entertaining as the previous books. I fell hard and fast for Grant Lorre , he made me smile throughout the story and I couldn't wait to see if he and Jocelyn Asher would get the happily every after that they both deserved. I loved the idea of a marriage of convenience, because we all know that will lead to so much more.

What starts out as a plan for a few months suddenly heats up. As the chemistry between Grant and Jocelyn sizzled and grew, so did their feelings. This book was full of humour, some miss communication, romance and heat. There was also many laugh out loud moments which added to my enjoyment.

Making Whoopie ( what a fabulous title) is a great example of RomCom at it’s best. Erin Nicholas has a way with words that quickly draws you in and keeps you invested from the first to the last chapter.

Excerpt:
He was the new strawberry pie in her life. She’d had one taste of Zoe’s strawberry pie and that had been it. Nothing else would ever measure up. She would never not crave it. She would never pass up a chance to have it on her tongue. Yeah, Dax Marshall was that. And then some. He pulled back, breathing hard, staring down at her. She quickly put her hand over his mouth. “Don’t talk. Talking is the wrong choice right now.” She was going to have to deal with the boss thing soon enough. And the millionaire thing. And the he-doesn’t-live-here-and-isn’t-staying thing. And all the other crap she always had to deal with that made this impossible. But for another minute—or maybe ten—she didn’t want to think about any of that. And if he talked, that would be very difficult. He pulled in a breath, gave her a short nod that she interpreted as okay, no talking and she moved her hand. Which was the right choice, because he leaned in as he slid his hand up the side of her body, skimming over her hip, waist, the side of her breast, up and into her hair. Then he cupped the back of her head and lowered his mouth to hers again. This time he kissed her. And seriously, she’d give up strawberry pie for this. They made out like that for long, delicious minutes. When he finally took his mouth from hers, it was to slide it along her jawline, his beard causing goose bumps to trip down her arms and tighten her nipples. In her ear he said gruffly, “I have to talk now.” She laughed lightly. “I didn’t think it would last for even this long, really.” “Well, I do love using my mouth this way too.” He dragged his lips along the side of her neck. Her nipples got even tighter, begging for him to drag those lips down there. “But I can’t resist saying—” He lifted his head. “You are the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted.” She grinned. “Well… same.” A very sexy kind of surprised but superhot look crossed his face. “What about pie?” She sighed. “Pie is amazing.” “But the kissing…” he prompted. She knew she shouldn’t tell him the truth. The guy’s ego didn’t quit. Already. But she found herself nodding. “I was really hoping you’d be bad at it. Like terrible. Like no-worry-of-dirty-dreams bad,” she said. He arched an eyebrow. “And?” She sighed. “It was really good.” “Dirty-dreams-tonight good?” His voice was rumbly and low. She nodded. “Unfortunately.” He looked very pleased by her answer. His mouth curled up. “Maybe we should combine the kissing and the pie.” Her eyes widened before she could stop it. That would be… holy crap she would never recover. “I can’t even imagine that, honestly. I might die.”

If you are looking for a laugh out loud romantic comedy look no further than Forking Around which is book 2 in the Hot Cakes Series, this book is a great example of this genre and I’m sure like me you will be left smiling like a Cheshire Cat by the time you finish this entertaining witty read.
This is one of those books that has you from the first page, it has wonderful characters and a great storyline and I fell head over heels for Dax Marshall one of the new owners at Hot Cakes.
Jane works at the cake factory and the last thing she needs is the new boss sniffing around her, she has too much going on in her life and doesn’t have time for the sexy millionaire who is one of the new owners but the problem is Dax doesn’t give up easily when he has his heart set on something and he goes all out to prove he could be more than a boss if only Jane would give him the time of day....
This book ticked all my boxes, hot sexy hero and sassy witty heroine make for an entertaining read but it was Dax showing he cared in so many ways when it came to Jane and all the workers at Hot Cakes that really touched my heart. A funny witty read with plenty of witty banter and I can’t wait for the next book in this great series.

The second book in Ms. Nicholas latest series and it was just as enjoyable as the first one.
I fell hard and fast for Dax, there was just something about him that ticked all the boxes for me. He made me smile throughout the story and I couldn't wait to see if he and Jane could get the happily every after that they both deserved.

The chemistry between Jane and Dax was intense and their relationship as it developed romantic. As I have come to expect from Ms. Nicholas, Forking Around was well written with characters that you cannot help but become invested in. This book was full of humour and this just added to my overall enjoyment of the book with many laugh out loud moments.

Forking Around ( I just love the titles in this series) is a great example of RomCom at it’s finest. Erin Nicholas has a way with words that quickly draws you in and keeps you captivated from the first to the last page.

It was not only the main characters that are entertaining but also the secondary ones and I am looking forward to reading more in this series which has quickly become a favourite.

A Cinderella story with a hot boss so charming even a fairy godmother couldn't do better.
Everyone thinks Dax Marshall is a prince of a guy. And he's definitely charming.
But Jane has enough going on without adding a torrid fling with the boss to her life. Between her father's illness, her wicked-ish stepmother, her little sister's teenage drama, and the co-workers who depend on her---she can't handle another mess.
No matter how tempting and gorgeous the mess may be. Or how messy he wants to get with her.
Dax has spent his life being very serious about only one thing: proving you can be successful while still having a helluva good time. But he's just met the one woman who might break his I-can-charm-anyone streak. She's actually taking him seriously...and she seriously thinks they have nothing in common and can't be together.
Maybe he's the one who needs a new view of happily ever after. It's time to stop forking around.

Blog Tour: Sugarcoated by Erin Nicholas

"You can always count on Erin Nicholas for fun, sexy contemporary romance."―Melissa Foster, New York Times bestselling author
Sugarcoated, an all-new sexy and laugh-out-loud standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author Erin Nicholas, is out now!
Sugarcoated300
She's his best friend's little sister. He's known her all his life. He's practically part of the family. There is nothing either of them could do to surprise the other at this point.
Then she showed up in his bedroom in lingerie and asked him to take her V-card.
Now, that was a surprise.
Aiden is pretty sure Zoe was equally surprised when he told her no.
To say that he didn't handle it well would be a massive understatement. Almost as massive as the amount of work he's going to have to do now to convince her that he wants her. Forever.
Right after he tells her that he's bought the company that's her bakery’s biggest competitor.
Maybe if he tells her he’s in love with her first, that will help sugarcoat the whole we're-rivals-in-business-now thing.
So, first "I'm in love with you", then "take off your clothes", then "I'm now your business adversary".
Piece of cake.

Excerpt:
“What?” she asked, her eyes wide and blinking. “You thought I’d just be waiting around for you to come back?”
“Yes!” It was the wrong answer, he knew, even as he said it. But it was true.
“You are so full of yourself!” She frowned. “You actually thought I’d be waiting around, pining for you, didn’t you?”
Maybe not crying herself to sleep every night, but thinking about him? Yeah. Fuck. He hadn’t been able to get her out of his mind for more than a few hours at a time. “It’s only been five months,” he said. “Is it really crazy for me to think that you didn’t get your virginity ‘taken care of’ yet?”
“Exactly! It’s been five months!” she said.
“You went twenty-five years without sex, and you couldn’t go five more months?”
“Well, it’s not like you gave me an IOU!” she shot back. “I had no idea when you were coming back, and I assumed your answer would have still been no. So yeah, I moved on, Aiden.”
“Who was it?” he asked, noting his tone was suddenly a little ominous.
“I’m not telling you that.” She looked at him like he was insane.
“Tell me, Zoe.”
“No.”
“I’ll find out. This is Appleby. I’ll probably know by the end of tonight.”
“You won’t.” She lifted her chin. “I can promise you that.”
“Bet I do.”
“Why do you really even care? Now you don’t have to do it.”
“Because you’re mine.”
Yeah, shit. See, he’d known that was the wrong answer to give. Guys didn’t go around claiming women like they were property or possessions. He knew that. He’d never had that urge before. This woman was strong and independent and confident and certainly didn’t need him for anything.
But the idea of another man touching her, seeing her naked, making her feel the ultimate pleasure, made his blood boil.
She stood, just staring at him. Then she picked up a cake ball. And threw it at him. It hit him square in the red tie and bounced back onto the table.
“You’re a jerk.”
Yeah, maybe he was. A nice guy would probably just take all her explanations and excuses about why they shouldn’t be together and admit his idea was crazy.
He didn’t say anything. He didn’t wipe away the sticky crumbs the cake ball left on his tie. He picked up the ball and rounded the worktable.
Her eyes widened, and she backed up as he came closer. He kept going. Until her back was against the front of the fridge.
He didn’t say a word as he stopped right in front of her, lifted his hand to cup her face, and leaned in.
Aiden ignored her hands on his chest. She wasn’t pushing. She wasn’t pulling him closer either, but she wasn’t trying to get away. She wasn’t lifting her knee to his balls. She wasn’t saying no.
He stared into her eyes for a long moment. She could stop this. He knew she knew that.
She didn’t.
So he kissed her.

Sugarcoated is book one in the new Hot Cakes Series and what a perfect way to start the series with a five star read !!!!
Zoe and Aiden have known each other most of their lives, he is best friends with her older brother and like most younger sisters Zoe has crushed on Aiden for as long as she can remember, but that all changed when she asked Aiden to take her virginity and he turned her down with out a reason why.
Aiden, Cam (Zoe’s brother) and three friends are self made millionaires and now Aiden is back in town trying to do right by Zoe but is it too late especially since he now owns Zoe’s biggest competitor........
This friends to lovers romance ticked all my boxes, it has all the feels you want and expect in a five star read. I laughed a lot as I fell in love with the characters, I swooned a lot at the sizzling chemistry Zoe and Aiden shared and I giggled a lot at the witty banter that flowed so naturally throughout this story. All of the characters in this book have different strengths and are easy to connect with and I really didn’t want this book to end and with that being said I’m so excited for book 2 it can’t come soon enough. A fun entertaining read that captivated me and I highly recommend it to all romance lovers as well as rom-com lovers.

Having read previous books by Erin Nicholas I was excited when I learnt that she had a new series releasing and I couldn’t wait to read and review.

This is a friends to lovers story with complications, not least of which is that Zoe is the younger sister of Aiden’s best friend, Cam. Oh and did I mention he just brought the company that is Zoe’s bakery’s biggest competitor and he refused to take Zoe’s virginity?

The chemistry between Aiden and Zoe was intense and hot. It wouldn’t be an Erin Nicholas novel without humour and laughter and this just added to my overall enjoyment of the book with numerous laugh out loud moments.

Sugarcoated ticked all the boxes for me and is a great example of RomCom at it’s finest. Erin Nicholas has a way with words that quickly draws you in and keeps you captivated from the first to the last page.

There was nothing I didn’t like about Sugarcoated, I loved everything about the characters and the story and I am excited to read the next book in the series.

Sugarcoated is the perfect start for Erin Nicholas’s new Hot Cakes series and I can honestly say that this is now my favorite friends to lovers story! When you combine great writing, memorable characters and a fantastic storyline you have a book you don’t want to put down and that is what this story is and more!

This story will bring a smile to your face, make you laugh but most of all you will fall in love with these characters and their story!

Aiden and Zoe are the main characters in this first book but we are also treated to many of their other friends and family members and they are just as entertaining and interesting and I am looking forward to their stories in the future!
