RELEASE BLITZ - What's It Gonna Take by Lacey Black

Title: What's It Gonna Take
Series: Burgers and Brew Crüe #5
Author: Lacey Black
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 9, 2022

BLURB

Garreth

From the first moment I saw Reagan Turner at the bar and restaurant I help manage, I was drawn like never before. She was dating someone at the time, which meant she was off-limits, until the jerk broke up with her. I can’t get her out of my head, can’t stop wanting to kiss those perfectly lush lips. Fighting this attraction has been my kryptonite.

So, I give in to temptation.

Now, all bets are off. One touch, one kiss, one night will never be enough. Of course, I wasn’t factoring in us working together, which means I have to keep my desire—and my hands—to myself.

Should be easy enough.

Reagan

There’s something about the charismatic, flirty bar manager that pulls me in. When my boyfriend breaks up with me via text message, I suddenly see Garreth Taylor in a whole new light. He’s gorgeous, fun, caring, and everything a single woman could ever want. And for some reason, he seems to have his sights set on me, even if he doesn’t say it outright.

So, I make the first move.

The result is both explosive and dynamic, and before I know it, one night turns to two. He has a hang-up, however, about being professional while at work, and draws a line in the sand.

Looks like I’ll have to show him how fun it can be to cross it.

EXCERPT

My blood is boiling.
What kind of douche canoe sends a text to break up with a woman, and then shows up at the same place said woman you just broke up with is eating dinner?
Justin fucking Morales, that’s who.
I want to punch him in his smug, dirtbag face, but I won’t because my employers frown upon it. Well, maybe not Jameson as much as the others, especially when he hears what happened to his wife’s cousin. He’d probably jump to the head of the line to knock out a few teeth.
I remember growing up with Jameson and Walker. They definitely weren’t afraid to get into parking lot scuffles. We didn’t hang in the same circles, but I never had any issues with them. I was just more focused on getting good grades, playing baseball, and getting into college.
Reagan approaches where I stand, eavesdropping on her confrontation and not ashamed in the least. Her eyes are cast down at first, and when they finally meet mine, I can see her embarrassment and anger swirling together like a tornado. Part of me wants to reach out and pull her against my chest, vowing to kick his ass for hurting her, but I know she won’t appreciate that right now.
Instead, I go to the one place I know will get a reaction out of her. “I’m so turned on right now,” I mutter, throwing her a wink and a smile.
And just like that, the shock and rage reflecting in her stunning eyes falls away and is replaced by laughter. “Oh my God,” she sputters through her giggle fit. “What is wrong with you?”
See? This right here. I’d rather see her happy and laughing instead of what that asshole made her feel like. When she smiles, there’s this light that surrounds her. It’s vibrant and makes me feel like I won a million dollars or something equally as badass.
“You wound me, love.” I place a hand over my heart and sigh dramatically.
Reagan rolls her eyes, much as I’d expect her to. “You’re nuts.”
I sober and step closer, greedily breathing in her sweet scent. “Do you want me to drop a drink in his lap? Or maybe step on his patty before I serve it? I’d do it in a heartbeat, for you,” I tell her, only half-joking.
Reagan gives me a sad smile, and Jesus, I don’t like it. “I do appreciate the offer, but I don’t think that’s necessary. Please don’t make any health code violations on my behalf,” she replies with the faintest grin on her pretty lips.
“If you change your mind, send me a signal, okay? Maybe blow me a kiss from across the room or twerk. Twerking’s always good.”
Her face completely relaxes as she laughs and shakes her head. “You’re terrible. I’m going to head back to my friends,” she says, reaching out and squeezing my arm. Little bolts of lightning streak through my veins and land firmly in my balls. It’s hard to just stand here and watch her walk away. “Oh, Garreth?”
Glancing up, I meet her gaze. “Yes?”
“Thank you. For making me smile.” She rewards me with another small smile.
My throat is tight with emotion. “Anytime.”
Reagan rejoins her party, immediately jumping into an animated telling of what happened over with Justin. As much as I’d love to go over there, I can’t. I have a job to do, which right now, is serving the ex. Even if I’d rather kick his ass out or just flat out refuse to serve him, that’s not my job, and I always strive to do the best job I can.
Dammit.

What’s It Gonna Take is the surprise fifth book in the Burgers and Brew series by Lacey Black.

I loved this book from beginning to end.

Garreth is the manager at Burgers and Brew and is such a likeable character. He looks after his friends, family and the staff that work for him at the bar/restaurant. He’s protective but also flirty.

Reagan’s character was awesome. After quitting a job that’s she worked her butt off for, she struggles to find where she belongs. When she’s offered a temporary job as hostess at Burgers and Brew, she jumps at the chance. Especially if it gets her closer to Garreth.

The chemistry between these two characters leapt off the pages! I loved their story and can’t wait to read what else Lacey comes out with!

Release Blitz: Grip by Lacey Black

Lacey Black's Grip is a second-chance, surprise-baby contemporary romance written in K. Bromberg's Driven World project!

Mack
I live to race. It's in my blood--the smell of dirt and gasoline, the fast cars, the screaming fans. I was the king of a small track in Missouri with the world at my fingertips. I even had the girl, until a call came from the infamous Colton Donavan. I had a choice to make: my dream or the woman I loved. I couldn't have both.

When an unexpected surprise shows up on my doorstep in the form of a baby, there's only one woman I trust enough to help me. Lena Stanley, the one I left behind. But being in close proximity to her reminds me of what we used to have, and what I still want. Her.

Lena
The day he walked away to chase his dream was the hardest day of my life, but I powered through. I could never ask Mack to choose between me and the opportunity of a lifetime. That's why I pushed him toward the latter, despite the heartache it caused.

Now, he needs my help. The problem is it's hard to keep old feelings buried. Despite my best efforts, our connection is too powerful to deny. However, as our short time together draws to a close, I have another difficult choice to make. Only this time, I'm not just walking away from him, but his son too.

Let me start by saying that the author is new to me and Im really blown away by this story that I definitely want to read more of her work.
Grip is exciting, fast paced and gets your heart pumping to the tale of an amazing second chance story.
I wholeheartedly loved both Mack and Lena. After a difficult breakup years ago, Mack has a change in his life and asks Lena for her help. Needless to say, its not without some heartwarming moments and some trial and error where these two form a bond.
As a race car driver, Mack has alot on his plate but with Lena by his side for now, hes able to breathe a bit easier.
Lena is conflicted, should she give in to what her heart wants or leave the past behind and move on. I really enjoyed this book in the driven world series. Grab your copy, you wont be sorry.

Grip is written in New York Times Bestselling author K. Bromberg's Driven World, which is one of two KB Worlds projects. With over 100 authors, who were selected by and are working with K. Paperback: coming soon

Exclusive Excerpt:

“Are you blind?! What kinda call was that?” AJ hollers at the ump behind home plate while the crowd around us boos and screams their frustration at the horrible call. “Dude, your girl is vicious. Remind me not to get on her bad side,” Dylan mumbles to me as we watch AJ rant at the umpire. “No shit,” I reply, shocked that such harsh words just came from my sweet little schoolteacher’s mouth. “It’s kinda hot, though.” “Definitely,” my brother replies quietly. “Did you see how many hotdogs she ate?” “More than you.” “More than you and me combined, bro. A woman who looks like that, talks like a sailor, and can hold her own in a hotdog eating contest? Marry her, dude.” I snort in reply, merely because I’m afraid if I open up my mouth right now, I might actually propose. If I was falling in love with this woman before today, well, seeing her in my element, trash talking, and burping warm beer has pretty much sealed the deal for me. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’ve fallen head over heels in love with AJ Summer. “Can you believe that call? What kinda horseshit is that? A blind monkey humping a football could have seen the tag! He was out by a mile,” she seethes, her eyes burning with fire and passion. “I saw,” I tell her, wrapping my arm around her shoulders and pulling her into my side. “Horrible call.” “The worst,” she grumbles. “You’re scaring the big burly guys behind us, honey,” I tease. She glances over her shoulder at my words. “You mean Bill and Tom? Shit, who do you think taught me those bad words?” she asks, making me laugh. “They really appreciated the autographs, though,” she adds. As soon as the Rangers fans sat down behind us before the game started, they recognized me and started chatting. I signed a few autographs for them and a handful for others in the vicinity.

Lacey Black delivers yet another witty and laugh out loud romantic comedy in the latest instalment of the Summer Sisters series!

My Kinda Player is AJ's story and I love that AJ gets to be with the semi-famous baseball player who has recently just become the new PE teacher at her junior high school.

The sisters, as always, make this story so funny and who can forget the grandparents?! Those two absolutely take the cake when it comes to inappropriate comments at just the right time.

I cannot get enough of this series and Lacey's writing just keeps getting better and better. I have a feeling the next book in this series is going to rip my heart out (but I just can't wait)!

“It’s time to get this thing started!” the little old woman hollers behind me, walking by and swatting me on the ass. “Oh, that’s nice,” she adds with an ornery grin and a wink. What in the hell is going on here? “We’re ready. Go!” “Go?” I ask, confused, and rubbing the back of my neck with my hand. “Strip! It’s why you’re here, right? My granddaughter, Alexis, is celebrating her divorce, and what a better way to rejoice than with a stripper! Oh, that agency was right. You are a delicious, big ol’ slab of meat. So, take it off! Take it off!” the woman chants, the girls standing off to the side giggling and chugging whatever is in their glasses (probably alcohol). “Grandma, this is completely not necessary,” Lexi says from the chair. “Zip it! It’s completely necessary to welcome you back into the dating world with some naked man meat. This is a cellllllllebrationnnnnnn, Alexis.” “Stop calling me that. I’m not even divorced yet.” “Semantics.” Walking up to her granddaughter, the old woman whispers loudly, “Hey, maybe you’ll get to sleep with the stripper. He’s super hunky with a great ass,” she adds with another wink sent my way. “Please don’t do this,” Lexi begs from her chair. “Too late. I’ve already paid the beefcake. Just sit there and enjoy. I know I’m ready,” Grandma says, pulling a folding chair nearby so she gets an up-close and personal view. My heart is hammering in my chest as I take in the room. The other occupants are staring at me expectantly, while Grandma grabs her phone, presumably to take pictures or video. Strip in a room full of woman? For Lexi? Fuck yes! Suddenly, the music changes to Warrant. “Cherry Pie” blares through the speakers, and I realize I’m at a fork in the road. I can get the hell out of this apartment, away from the crazy old woman who’s apparently into buying her grandkids strippers, and hide away from Lexi and her whacked family for the rest of my time in this building. Or, I can stay. And strip. A broad smile stretches across my face as I take in the anxiously nervous woman sitting before me. I wonder why she hasn’t removed her blindfold, and upon closer inspection, I realize her hands are also tied to the back of the chair. Perfect.
