Release Date: October 15, 2019

Holidate, an all-new standalone contemporary holiday romance by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Monica Murphy.
Candice Gaines loves Christmas. Not only does she bask in the twinkling lights, sing Christmas carols and go crazy with the decorations, she’s also in the giving spirit, donating much of her time and wealth to various charities in the local area.
Charlie Sullivan despises Christmas. Though it keeps his family afloat, considering they own Sullivan Family Christmas Tree Farm, the main provider for Christmas trees on the Monterey peninsula. He’d much rather work among the trees versus have to deal with people.
But Charlie’s parents are taking on more philanthropic projects—and as their oldest child, they want him to be their official public representative. He just has to play nice and convince everyone he’s not a total holiday hater.
When Charlie’s mom asks Candice to accompany him to a variety of holiday parties and events, she reluctantly agrees. She thinks Charlie is a big ol’ Grinch, but is determined to change his mindset and help him spread Christmas cheer. Charlie finds Candice too chatty, too sweet, too much. Do people like her really exist?
Why yes, yes they do. The more time they spend together—along with a few kisses under the mistletoe—the more they start to like each other. Hopefully Charlie can convince Candice he doesn’t have a heart that’s two sizes too small before the ball drops on New Year’s Eve.
A stand-alone, contemporary romance.

Excerpt:
I go chasing after Charlie, thankful he hasn’t hopped back on that ATV and torn out of here. He’s headed straight for the giant red building, and I follow behind, having to pick up my step since one of his long strides equals about three of mine. He’s just so stinkin’ tall. And handsome. And gruff. And he smells good. Have I mentioned that? He smells like a pine tree, of course, and his scent is mouth-wateringly delicious. Ugh. I hate myself sometimes. He pushes open the door of the building almost violently, sending it swinging wide, and I sneak in behind him, causing him to turn and practically snarl at me when he realizes I’m standing in front of him. But I forget all about his snarl when I see how enchanting this room is. It’s not an office, but an actual store, filled to the brim with holiday decorations and knickknacks for sale. Candles are burning—I can smell cinnamon and spice wafting in the air. The scent of the real pine trees laden with ornaments standing in the room also lingers, and I breathe deep, closing my eyes for a moment so I can take it all in. When I open my eyes, it’s to find Charlie standing there, his hands on his hips, his brow lowered. “Are you okay? That head injury still flaring up and giving you trouble?” I roll my eyes. “No, you idiot. I’m enjoying the festive atmosphere.” Oh, that was mean. I shouldn’t have said that. But I don’t think he even noticed. I slowly turn in a circle, pure delight flowing through my veins. I don’t know what to look at first, it’s all so beautiful. And there are layers upon layers of decorations. On the walls, cluttering shelves and tabletops, overflowing giant baskets. And of course there are the trees. They almost sag with their bounty of sparkling ornaments and twinkling lights. It would probably take me hours to explore it all, and I’m dying to start my exploration right at this very moment. “This store is so adorable!” “My sister Victoria runs it.” He glances over at the counter where the register sits, but no one’s there. “I don’t know where she’s at, though. Maybe you could talk to her about—whatever it is you want to talk about.” No way is he pushing this agenda onto his sister. Isabel wants Charlie to do this, and no one else. “We’ve wasted the past five minutes with you huffing and puffing and refusing to speak to me.” I reach into my large bag and pull the folder out I wanted to show him. “Give me ten minutes. That’s all I need to talk about what we’re going to do over the next few weeks.” He grimaces. Sighs. Tugs the cap off his head, all that gorgeous hair spilling across his forehead, and my fingers literally itch at the chance to push it out of his eyes. But I restrain myself. Barely.

What’s not to love? Christmas is the most magical time of the year. It’s a time to reflect and celebrate life.

Candice Gaines is my kind of woman, just like me she loves anything to do with Christmas.

Charlie Sullivan on the other hand is just like my husband and dislikes Christmas. Ironically his family owns a Christmas Tree Farm.

When circumstances bring Candice and Charlie together attending some holiday events, Candice hopes to change his mind about the festive season.

Can these two opposites come together and forge a path together?
Monica Murphy is a relatively new author to me and I find myself being drawn in to the stories she weaves.

I really liked Candice, she is someone that I could easily be friends with. There is something about Charlie that drew me to him, he is most certainly swoon worthy and I loved the slow burn of the relationship as it built with Candice.
This is a sweet, romantic, love story that ticked the boxes for me. Extremely well written this story will take you on a fabulous journey that will leave you with a smile on your face.

--

Christmas is my favourite time of the year and I love romance set in the magical holiday season because for me this is the time of year we should be celebrating love, families and friendships. I really related to the heroine Candice Sullivan because like me she loves everything Christmas but Charlie Sullivan is the complete opposite to him Christmas is just about selling trees from his families Christmas Tree Farm. Can Candice give Charlie a different view on the holiday season and in doing so make him change his mind about Christmas and love .......
If you are looking for a entertaining, sweet romance this book will certainly tick the boxes, this story is really a journey that’s beautifully written with wonderful characters and I hope like me you are left smiling like a Cheshire Cat. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Blog Tour-2.jpgExcerpt:
I head straight for the pickup counter, where I see my skinny vanilla latte waiting for me, my name written on the side of the cup in Stella’s familiar scrawl. Without hesitation I grab it, inhaling deeply before I take a sip. Just a tiny sip so I can savor it. I close my eyes for a second, maybe two, and when I open them, I find a guy standing there.
Watching me. And he’s not just any guy. He’s cute. Wait, no. Not cute. He’s…hot. Dark hair. Blue eyes. Wearing a suit that fits him perfectly. I know just from looking at the fabric that it’s custom. Expensive. He’s smiling at me. And I’m scowling at him in return because the caffeine hasn’t quite hit my bloodstream yet, so I’m not on top of my game. “You looked like you were having a moment.” His voice is deep. Rich. His face…vaguely familiar? I stand a little straighter. Take another sip of my coffee as I contemplate the man in front of me, because for some reason I still can’t come up with anything to say. Listen, I always have something to say. But this guy. This gorgeous, well-dressed maybe-stranger, is leaving me a little… Dumbstruck? Huh. “That moment you were just having. With your coffee,” he continues, gesturing at the cup I’m clutching in both of my hands, like it’s my baby. Which this morning—every morning—it is. “She loves coffee,” Stella says from behind me. Glancing over my shoulder, I give her a look, one that says shush. “I can see that.” The amusement in his voice is obvious. He thinks it’s funny. The sacred moment I was having with my latte made him smile. I wouldn’t mind coming up with other ways to make him smile. Whoa. Where did that thought come from? “What I want to know is, how did you get such special treatment?” I blink at him like I’m an uncomprehending idiot. “Excuse me?” “Well, I’ve been here for the last fifteen minutes. First, standing in line.” He gestures at the line of customers that trails out the door. “And now, waiting for my order.” Guilt fills me. Just a tiny bit. Sweet Dreams CafĂ© is the most popular bakery and coffee shop in Carmel-by-the-Sea. All the tourists love it. All the locals love it too. It’s been in Stella’s family for generations. “Yet you skip past the line, walk straight in here and grab your ready-made drink within a few seconds of your arrival. Do you have a Fast Pass?” A brow lifts, and I’m hit with a quiver. Like Cupid just drew back his bow and shot that arrow right in my heart. Or perhaps that arrow struck me in, ahem, other places. Who knew a brow lift could be so sexy?

Monica Murphy is a new author to me and after reading Save The Date I will definitely be reading her other works when time permits.

I really liked Caroline Abbott, she is someone that I could easily be friends with. Working at Noteworthy she specialises in Save The Date and wedding invitations meaning she deals with a variety of brides.

Caroline is shocked when her latest bride’s fiancee turns out to be someone Caroline once knew, Alexander Wilder.

Alex was the first boy Caroline ever kissed and has always held a special place in her heart.

After discovering his fiancee has been cheating, Alex calls the wedding off and instead embarks on a journey of self discovery with Caroline.

Alex is most certainly swoon worthy and I loved the slow burn of the relationship as it built with Caroline.

Caroline’s friends were awesome and just as quirky as her. I really loved how supportive they were.

This is a sweet, romantic, second chance at love story that ticked the boxes for me. Extremely well written this story will take you on a fabulous journey that will leave you with a smile on your face.

Monica Murphy is a new author to me and after reading this fun entertaining story I’m struggling to understand why she hasn’t crossed my radar before now and make no mistake I will be checking out other works by this very talented author. Save the Date is a perfect holiday read, it’s easy to pick up and fall straight into and it has the perfect mix of love, drama and swoon worthy moments. Characters with sizzling chemistry and a tale that keeps you smiling throughout as Caroline and Alex get their second chance at love and romance. The story is great, the characters adorable and the writing is wonderful. Looking forward to reading more from this very talented author.

Save The Date is a fun, entertaining story and perfect summer read!
This is the first book by Monica Murphy that I have read and I am now definitely a fan. She put together a great story with characters that have history, end up in some interesting situations through a whirl wind romance and come out on top in the end. Add in one crazy ex-fiancĂ© a trip to Paris and some serious chemistry between Alex and Caroline and Boom...a fantastic story is born!
You will be thoroughly entertained! I love this couple and I know you will too!

Book description:
Crazy how eight years can disappear in an instant. One look at Katie Watts, and I'm a fifteen-year-old again--the one who risked everything to save a terrified girl from her twisted kidnapper. She's grown-up now--beautiful, quiet, composed--and telling her story to the world. A story that involves me in more ways than you can imagine. She used to call me her guardian angel. Sure, I risked my life, but she was worth dying for.

I need to make contact with her. Just to ensure that she's safe.

Somehow we reconnect. We become friends . . . but I want more. I want to make her mine. And she wants me too. Does she know who I am? Has she figured me out? Not yet. But she will. In the meantime, I need to make sure that whatever hold that animal had on her is gone.

So, yeah, I'm stealing these moments with her. Savoring them. Knowing, dreading, that she'll soon find out who I really am. And everything will fall apart. All because of that twisted, perverted monster sitting on death row. Her kidnapper. A convicted serial killer.

My father.

IN THE DARK (Book 2) August 25, 2015
Stuck spending the summer with his screwed up family, Gabriel Walker is bored out of his mind and looking for an adventure. And he seems to find it with the hot girl who lives next door. The attraction between them is instant. Electric. Soon they’re spending every stolen minute together. Talk about the perfect summer fling…

Lucy isn’t what she seems. She doesn’t live next door—she’s the girl who’s been hired to house sit for the summer while the family goes on a worldwide vacation. If Gabe wants to believe she’s a spoiled rich girl looking for some fun, she can go along with that. After the summer, she’ll never see him again.

They don’t count on running into each other at college. Now Lucy must keep up the pretense of being a rich girl—and it’s exhausting. She knows she’s falling in love with Gabe and she’s scared he feels the same. Will he still care about her when he discovers the truth?

Oh wow, I have to say I absolutely loved this book. It was really difficult to put down I think I read it in record time for me. I was so hooked from start to finish!!

We first meet Gabe in Fair Game, the first book in this series and in that, you can see he’s a total player but this story brings a whole different light on his persona. AND I loved the way he becomes.
Gabe is spending his summer holiday with his family at their holiday house! He has been watching the girl next door for 2 weeks.... Eventually he introduces himself….
Lucy has seen Gabe watching her all this time and even has a nickname for him, which is rather funny!

I loved the direction this story took, their connection was sizzling!
Untruths are told and when their summer fling is over, not anticipating seeing each other again, things fall by the wayside in communication.
Gabe is over his Manwhore ways, his mind still drifting to Lucy! I loved how he asked Shep for advice, loved seeing his friends and how they are going.

Having never told either much about where they go to college, they actually find themselves at the same place, much to both their shock….not knowing how come, why…and eventually they talk and let their feelings be known. I think their bond, their reconnection was so wonderful. I really enjoy this series a lot.
I loved seeing the characters from the first book Fair Game, and how they interact with Lucy….how they help Gabe come to terms with his feelings for her…sigh….!!! The banter, the sizzling hot parts really made this story an incredible read.
I think Monica has written an amazing series and I so cannot wait for more. I need so much more. Her books are lighthearted and beautiful love stories.
