Review by Marina: Beautiful Liar by Tara Bond

Reliable
Nina Baxter has her life all mapped out. She wants to work hard, take care of her younger sister and not end up like her drunk of a mother. Most of all, she plans to stay away from bad influences.

Reckless
Alexander Noble doesn’t give a damn about anything or anyone. The heir to an unimaginable fortune, he’s never had to do a day’s work in his life, and devotes himself to pleasure and partying.

When opposites attract…
From their very first meeting, Nina knows Alex is bad news, and vows to stay away from him. But as their paths continue to cross, she can’t help being drawn to him – especially when he makes no secret of his interest in her.

Can they resist the pull?
For the first time ever, Nina is on the brink of following her heart. But can she believe Alex when he tells her to trust him? Or is he just another beautiful liar?

4 stars
I have not read anything by this author before and just from the synopsis it looked like a very intriguing as well as interesting read and right up my alley.
This book had me hooked, not to mention, being set in London, there is always something about reading about places in the UK, for me, anyway.
I could really sympathise with the main character Nina, who at the young age of 19, was trying to do her best by her family. The lengths she went to, to get her family back and happy again, her struggles, the way she handled herself in many situations, her reluctance to be anywhere near a certain bad boy.
The way she went above and beyond, sacrificing her happiness, well I couldn’t help but admire her. She went and asked an old family friend for help getting a job, one her family hasn’t been in contact with for many years. He directed her to his son’s nightclub and once she started there, things got rather interesting in her life. Enter the other characters, especially playboy Alex and his brother Giles.
I loved the new friend she made in Jas. Jas had a sense of humour and I loved the way she helped Nina come out of her shell a bit more.
Trust, deception, love, family, all play their part in this story. I liked certain parts, thought Nina resisted rather well. But at some point I wanted to shake her and say…do something that makes you happy!!!! Do something fun!!
Alex, he was a spoilt rich kid, player to the core and seemed determined to get Nina’s attention. In this case, opposites definitely attract in a good girl meets bad girl way!!
Then when a secret is revealed, well, I was stunned…then when more is revealed….you can understand why Nina’s mother had problems, why things changed. I often wondered throughout if things would turn out in a happy way for them all.
In the end though, I wanted to know so much more. I thought to myself…is that it??? I certainly hope Tara considers writing another story to this, to satisfy my curiosity.
All in all, an enjoyable read!!
PB arc received from Simon and Shuster AU for an honest review.

I grew up in Surrey, England, and read History at Cambridge University before embarking on a series of sensible office jobs. I live in London with my husband, and love reading and writing, as well as watching movies and TV box sets. My guilty pleasures are cocktails and chocolate desserts. I discovered the New Adult genre in the summer of 2012, and have been addicted ever since. My first novel, Beautiful Liar, will be published in eBook on May 2015 and in paperback on 30 July 2015. I'm very happy for people to add me as a Friend on goodreads.
