“This story was definitely sweet and romantic, with some dramatic flare!! I love Alexis Noelle, so I wasn’t disappointed by this book!” ~Alpha Book Reviews review of Claiming Her
This was a new author to me and follows four men
who chose different paths in life and whose stories are woven together since
they are all part of a group of friends
Keeping Her:
This story is about Brian and Julia (Jules) and in
essence is about the one who got away.
Miscommunication is at the heart of this book, with both of them
believing that the other doesn’t think they are good enough for them. Julia’s
heart was broken when she left town to go on a 3 month European holiday, Brian feeling
he wasn’t good enough for Julia enlisted and went away the day before
returned. Brian has always been in love
with his Jules and has returned home, determined to show her what is missing.
However people and circumstances change and Jules is now married to her best
friend Dan, a man Brian has always hated, and on that I totally agree with
Brian. I have to say these two didn’t endear themselves to me. I was frustrated
at times by Brian’s attitude, he acted like a jerk Perhaps because she is
married and Brian is determined to show her what she is missing. Although
having said that by the end I was feeling happier with Brian. The supporting
characters were good and I really liked Jules’s best friend Lacey. Will the
secrets and lies that pulled them apart be unravelled and will Jules decide her
future is with Brian or Dan?
Protecting Her:
Hunter is a player, determined not to settle down,
that is until her meets the woman he has to protect Samantha. What happens when
a supposed one night stand becomes complicated?
Hunter suddenly finds that Sam is the person he has been hired to
protect. I actually liked these two together; the camaraderie between them was
at times awesome. With her life in danger, Sam has withdrawn into herself and
Hunter feels the need to drag her back to the land of the living. This was a
romance story filled with suspense and I have to say I enjoyed it more than
Keeping Her. If I had a mother/manager like Sam’s I would run far away. If I
could have knocked her out, I think I would have.
Saving Her:
This is Lacey Hunt, a character I really liked from
Keeping Her and Mason Brooks story. They met due to their friendship with Brian
and Jules, Both have been badly hurt in the past. Can they take a giant leap of
faith and open themselves up to the possibilities before them or will their
past haunt continue to haunt them. This book was an emotional roller-coaster
and one that really caught and kept my attention to it. Emotional and tear
jerking I have to say I felt this was possibly the best book in the set. Can
these two knock down each other’s walls? Can these two broken souls come
together and heal each other? This book was well written full of angst, romance
and eventual love.
Claiming Her:
This is Jake and Nina’s story. He is a trainer at a
gym and as such is confident, good looking and unlucky in love. He is also kind
and sweet and determined to pursue Nina. However, Nina has plans to avoid a
relationship at all costs.
Do opposites really attract? Is it enough to overcome the past and look
towards the light of a brighter future? Nina has been traumatised by her twin sister’s
death and has always blamed herself.
Jake is determined to stand by Nina and be whatever she needs. I loved
that about him.
Although underlined by sadness, this book to me had
more humour in it than the others. This book was also an emotional journey and
I felt myself almost in tears on occasion
I really enjoyed Alexis Noelle's writing style and
overall I enjoyed the stories. I look forward to reading more from Alexis
Noelle.
5 stars
Reading this box set was a real treat. This set is made up of four different books that center around four friends who created a security firm. Each book is a stand alone however, they are so much better when read together, preferably one right after the other, in a setting where you can dig your heels in and keep reading. There is definitely a word of caution here, there a moments in each book where you are going to want to throw your book or kindle or reading device. Don't do it. Soldier on through each one.
This author has a perfect mixture of angst, romance, suspense, drama and realistic characters in each novel. And she stays true to her characters and doesn't let you forget them as you move through the novels. There are hot scenes that definitely make this a not safe for work read. These are strong alpha males but make no mistake I am impressed with the females in this series as well. There is enough witty banter to keep you turning the pages.
Alexis Noelle lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her husband, and three kids. On top a writing career, she is a full-time student and a full-time mom. She loves spending time with her kids, although she has to hide the computer from them when she is writing! She love being active and being outdoors, especially if it involves any kind of shopping.
She has always been passionate about writing. She loves to read romance books and feels like being able to lose yourself in a book is one of the more exciting aspects. The books she loves to read and write will be ones that make you feel for the characters. Ashley believes that you should have an opinion on every character in a book whether you love them, hate them, or think they are up to something. She also believes that the most important critic is your reader, so she loves to hear from the readers. She want her fans to be open & talk to her about what they want for the characters in the story, and what they would like to see happen.
