 This is the second book in the Paradise series by LB Dunbar, but is written so that it could be read as a stand alone.   This story is about Cain Callahan or in the MMA world Cobra.  Cain met Sophie one night at her grandparents vineyard after a fight that where he ultimately took another mans life.  Cain and Sophie connected on every possible level during their brief time together.  Until Cain with the help of his father dismissed Sophie and then she disappeared for a year.  Cain searched for her in an attempt to make things right.  This story deals with many different relationships, father and son, grandparents, brothers and lovers.

 Sophie seems so real, like she could be your neighborhood college girl. This is exactly not Cain's type. Sophie becomes his  greatest temptation.  Cain was a very complex character.  I think Cain became an alpha due to growing up in an abusive environment.  He is a fierce protector of the people he cares about.  Sophie's is just kind hearted enough to tolerate him but she is hesitant to trust Cain again.

 This was a  great read and I found myself routing for Cain and Sophie with every turn of the page. The plot is surprising and complex which is refreshing to come by.
