Whispered Prayers of a Girl was a beautiful audiobook that I had the pleasure of listening to.
It’s a slow burn romance that is both tragic and beautiful at the same time. More than once I found myself reaching for the tissues.
This book touched on a number of factors including one which I found interesting which was selective mutism. Gwen’s eight year old daughter, Kelsey, tragically found her father dead after he suffered a heart attack in her bedroom. Since then, she only speaks when she prays each night.
Kelsey wasn’t the only one that was scarred, Alexander suffered one of the most tragic events of his life which has left him with burn scars down the right side of his body. He has since become a bit of recluse not liking to interact with anyone. But one day, he finds himself helping out a woman who accidentally left her wallet at home.
Gwen, was never so relieved, when the stranger helped her pay for her groceries. Since then she has been wanting to repay his kindness. What happens from then turns into a beautiful and heart wrenching romance. One that will stay with me for quite some time. Gwen and Alexander find strength in each other to face the demons that they both have.
I’ve never read anything by Alex Grayson before but this has me itching to read more by her!
