Not What I Expected is the first book by Jewel E. Ann that is have read and I can definitely say that I am a fan! I love her writing style, her characters are well developed and easy to like and her storyline is unique, engaging and kept my attention from beginning to the end. 
This is a wonderful, emotional story as Elsie tries to find her way after the death of her husband. She is carrying a lot of baggage, guilt and uncertainty about what the next step in her life should be and Kael is definitely complicating those decisions. 
Kael is twelve years younger, her competition and he is also attracted to her in a way he doesn’t quite expect. What started out as just a physical relationship has blossomed into so much more for both of them. The real twist is that he is definitely not what she expected. He is a a great guy who Elsie doesn’t want to like but she can’t help being drawn to him on so many levels. But was he just a stop along the way of her finding herself or will he end up being more in her life?
