Trick and Swayze have a heartbreaking history but now that they are back in each other’s lives they have a chance to act on the attraction that keeps pulling them together. Lani Lynn Vale never fails to deliver a nail biting and quite frequently a laugh out loud romance. I’m loving the spin on this latest series and learning the backstories of each of the members of the club.
Trick, who is a veteran, came home from deployment and saw the most gorgeous girl at a bar him and his friend decided to go. Never in a million years did he expect to find himself going to prison after defending that girl, nor did he realise how young she was.
Swayze (love this character’s name) finds herself in her grandfather’s bar one night on her 17th birthday to meet up with her father. Only he’s hours late and she has found other ways to keep herself occupied. Mainly, talking to a very handsome man that has walked into the bar. When her father does turn up, he’s pissed and ends up taking his frustrations out on her. The guy she was talking to all night, comes to her rescue.
12 years on, Swayze has vowed to become the beset lawyer to make sure no one goes to prison like Trick did. When she hears that Trick has gotten out of prison early, she reaches out to him and decides enough time has passed.
The character development between Swayze and Trick is incredible. Swayze is a take no crap heroine who I absolutely loved. She had to overcome so much from all the horrors of her past. Trick has had new obstacles that he has had to learn to overcome throughout the book but is more than up for the challenge.
This was my favourite book of the series thus far and can’t wait to read the next one!
