Release Date: April 6
Some secrets have a way of coming back and haunting us, no matter how much we try to bury them.
Chelsea
Coming back home was supposed to be normal.
Not that my life had ever been normal, but it was getting there.
Then I opened the door and found a man—broken, bloodied, and fighting for his life.
I don’t know why, but I said I would take care of him. I had to. Needed to.
He was a mystery, showing up from out of nowhere. But he might have already stolen my heart.
Mayson Carey
The only thing I have ever wanted in my entire life was to forget who I was. Joining the military helped me do this.
Keep your head down and glide through life was my new motto. No strings, no relationships. Nothing.
Everything was working until a knock at the door had me face-to-face with the reason I was running.
So I ran—I fell into her arms, and she fell into my heart, but I know better than to think it’ll last.
Some secrets have a way of coming back and haunting us, no matter how much we try to bury them.
WOW!! What an amazing book!
From start to finish I couldn’t put this book down. It’s full of angst and suspense and will absolutely keep you on the edge of your seat all the way through.
Southern Heart is book 5 in the Southern series, however not having read any of the previous books, I didn’t struggle with reading this book out of order.
Chelsea has come home after finishing nursing school and has decided to take some time to herself to spend time catching up with her family before starting her new job. What she didn’t expect was a man to come knocking on her door in the middle of a storm, bleeding and practically dead. Nevermind that she couldn’t imagine it being the man she has had a crush on for years.
Mayson is a veteran who has a past that he would really love to forget about. Unfortunately, his past has come back to haunt him in the worst way imaginable. After crawling his way through the woods with multiple life threatening injuries, he finally makes it to his best friend’s sister’s house. Chelsea has no choice but to help him and even though she rather Mayson go to the hospital, she does all she can to save his life.
I loved Chelsea’s character throughout this book. I love that out of all the ex-military men in her life she has the best shot. She knows how to protect herself and does all she can to help protect her loved ones.
The connection between Chelsea and Mayson grows while Mayson is under Chelsea’s care. I loved reading the heat grow between these two and the character development for them both is incredible. Mayson comes a long way from the beginning of this book and I loved seeing his fierce side fight.
I can’t recommend this book enough and can’t wait to read the other books in this series!
Southern Heart is a great addition to this series! This
story is a just the right combination of fantastic characters and an emotional,
action packed storyline as Chelsea, her friends and family all work together to
keep Mayson safe and hunt for the man who has come back for revenge on his only
son.
Mayson and Chelsea have know each other for years but have
always kept each other at a safe distance but when Mayson falls on her doorstep
she is the one to heal not only his wounds but his heart. The heart wants what
the heart wants and these two were simply meant to be together.
