The Dom Identity is the first BDSM book I’ve read in a long time and wow, what an incredible way to reintroduce myself to the genre!
I haven’t read many books by Lexi Blake (including the previous books in this/these series) but you can bet I will be from now on!
The Dom Identity is the story of Michael Malone who works for investigative firm and also happens to be a Dom. When he’s given an assignment to investigate one of the richest men in the city’s employees, who has a sordid past that’s been blasted all over the tabloids, he doesn’t exactly go in with an open mind.
What Michael doesn’t know, is that Vanessa Hale, his assignment is doing some investigating of her own. After discovering her now dead sister’s journal, she believes that she didn’t die in just a car accident but was murdered.
This book is filled with twists and turns that had me turning the pages non-stop. It’s filled with angst.
The character development is some of the best that I’ve read. Michael slowly realises that his misconceptions of Vanessa led him in astray in his investigation. Vanessa has to fight her way through being accepted into society thanks to the tabloids turning nearly all of the public against her.
This book, in one word, is EXCEPTIONAL.
I can’t wait to read the next books in this series to see what happens with MaeBe!
