Prologue

Auggie stood at the front of the church and watched her walk down the aisle. The bridesmaids’ dresses Lottie chose were very Lottie. Sleek. Sexy. Baring.

All the women looked great in them, but none of them looked better than Pepper.

And he thought that even before Pepper, as she strutted down the aisle, caught sight of her daughter, Juno, and shot her girl a huge smile.

Pepper Hannigan was gorgeous.

Anytime she was with her daughter?

Knockout.

They were the next in the line of Lottie’s matches. Auggie and Pepper.

Mo and Lottie were the obvious firsts (Mo was one of Aug’s four best buds), and Lottie earning the love of Mo had been all Lottie’s idea.

Mo never thought he’d find anyone as fantastic as Lots, would never go for it, until Lottie talked him around.

Now Mo was standing at the front of their line, waiting to make her his wife.

Once Lottie got her happy ending, she set about giving the same thing to Mo’s friends...fixing them up with her own crew.

And so far, she’d done a bang-up job.

Mag and Evie, the second couple, were living together and getting married.

Boone and Ryn, the third, were tight, and further, they were in business together.

Axl and Hattie, the fourth, were as good as living together, and practically inseparable. It was him and Pepper who were the holdouts.

This was not for lack of trying on Auggie’s part.

Once he’d met her, Auggie saw no reason not to go for it.

She was gorgeous. She was funny. She spoke her mind. She was laid back. Together. She didn’t seem to have any hang-ups.

But Pepper saw reason not to give it a shot because she had a kid.

He got it. She was being careful. Whatever had torn her and Juno’s dad apart had made her skittish.

So yeah.

He got it.

That didn’t mean it wasn’t torture.

Like right now, when her eyes caught his, the smile that she gave her kid still in them,

and Auggie felt that. He felt it.

Damn.

It wasn’t even aimed at him in any real way, and that residual love she’d targeted at her daughter was so big, it took forever to fade away.

He’d never felt that kind of love.

Not once in his life.

And he wanted it so bad, the backs of his teeth hurt with the need to taste it.

He lost her attention when she shifted to take her place at the front of the church and

Auggie tore his gaze away from her to watch the next woman, Hattie, march down the aisle. On its way, his gaze snagged on Juno.

Dark hair to her mom’s blonde, she was all dressed up, her hair curled —her mom was a bridesmaid in a big wedding with all the prep that entailed, but it was clear Juno had not been forgotten.

She was staring at her mother, beaming with pride.

Seeing that beam made Auggie want even more of what he’d never had. From the both of them.

eaming with pride.

I’ve been a long time fan of Kristen Ashley for years and she definitely does not disappoint in her latest release Dream Keeper.

This is the story of Auggie and Pepper. Auggie is a commando for Hawk’s team and Pepper is a dancer at Smithie’s club. Pepper has an awesome little girl named Juno who is the light of her life.

Auggie and Pepper have a rough start of things as Pepper believes that she shouldn’t be dating until her daughter is older. However, Juno has other ideas and goes about trying to get Pepper and Auggie together with the help of someone Auggie and his team doesn’t expect.

This book is full of twists and turns and the ever present Kristen Ashley sense of humour that had me giggling on more than one occasion. There was also a few tears shed as Pepper deals with extravagant family.

Dream Keeper definitely takes you on an emotional rollercoaster but it worth the ride!

I definitely recommend this book!

Excerpt

“Babe,” he growled.

A warning.

Definitely.

I’d gone too far.

I also didn’t care.

“Okay, so then does Tia have to sleep with one, or, say, all of your boys?”

“Don’t do that shit. You know that’s not what I’m talkin’ about.”

“So maybe you’ll explain what you’re talking about.”

“I would, you shut your trap.”

I shut my trap and stared at his shadowed head.

He stared at mine.

Then he muttered, “Christ, need my head examined.”

“You could get off me,” I reminded him.

“Is this shuttin’ your trap?”

I shut my trap again.

“You take of care my house and my business as well as me.”

“What does that mean?”

“That means you move outta the apartment before they kick your ass out. You move into my house. You keep it clean. You keep me fed, that is, when I’m not feedin’ you, and I like to cook, so mostly, I’ll be feedin’ you. You come to work with me and take care of the office, and you go home with me.”

Wow.

Was he serious?

That sounded like…it sounded like…

My God, it didn’t sound like a sex-for-safety arrangement.

It sounded like a relationship.

I was thrilled when I saw that Kristen Ashley was writing a new MC series and Still Standing has everything that I have come to expect in her books! It is a perfect combination of her unique writing style, memorable characters and an action packed storyline.
This story encompasses the good, the bad, and the ugly of life in the Aces High MC world. It is action-packed from the beginning until the end, filled with steamy moments as Buck and Clara maneuver their way through a new relationship, family issues and danger lurking around the corner. Both Buck and Clara have been dealt some bad cards but it is their resiliency and perseverance that has left them still standing after all the dust settles. And now they both have the chance to live in the sunshine!

A fun added bonus for those KA fans is that we get a few references from some earlier series and a cameo appearance from characters that we already know and love.

Kristen Ashley delivers another gripping MC romance with her newest release, Still Standing.

This is the first book in the Wild West MC series and it is one you do not want to miss!

It’s been awhile since I’ve picked up a Kristen Ashley book and now I’m wondering why! This book was enthralling from start to finish.

Buck is the president of the Aces High MC and when a woman walks into Dive, their clubhouse he doesn’t expect the sparks to start flying.

Clara Delaney has not had an easy life. She thought she had found a good man…until he was arrested for embezzlement leaving her with practically nothing. Now she’s trying to make ends meet by running messages for a very unsavoury character. When she needs to deliver a message to West “Buck” Hardy, she wasn’t expecting how it would play out. Clara is prim and proper and was a librarian up until everything fell apart. Now, she’s trying to acclimate to life as a biker babe thanks to Buck offering her protection.

As always with Ms Ashley she helps the reader delve into the world her characters live in and once you go in, you don’t want to leave. Buck and Clara together are sometimes hysterical and often times like dynamite getting ready to blow. Clara’s character had me seriously laughing out loud at certain points but I love her inner mama bear. Her character develops so much throughout this story.

I cannot recommend this book enough and can’t wait to read the next book in the series!!

EXCERPT: “Izzy?” she answered. “Hey, I’m home,” I told her. “Okay, well…how are you?” How was I? Johnny’s behavior explained by the sad fact it was the anniversary of his father’s death, but still explained, and he was coming over for dinner the next night, not to mention, after not being affectionate (at all, unless you counted sitting me on the countertop, which I kind of did) after the last time we’d had sex, he made out with me at the door of my car for a good, long, happy while—I was great. “I’m great,” I told her, opening Serengeti’s stall and moving in, lifting a hand to pat her jaw while she moved her nose to snuffle my neck and blow at my hair. “Damn,” Deanna muttered. My hand arrested on Serengeti and I focused on Deanna. “What?” I asked. “Damn,” she repeated. “Damn what?” I asked. “Well, just to say Johnny Gamble is Johnny Gamble.” A specific area in my chest squeezed at the way she imparted that obvious but still confusing information. “What’s that mean?” I asked. “He’s Johnny Gamble of Gamble Garages. Did he tell you that?” No he didn’t tell me that. And suddenly I was embarrassed about something that I hadn’t liked all along. But it was worse since Deanna knew more about a man I’d slept with than I did. Serengeti was getting fidgety, so I used my hand on her to lead her out of her stall, and once in the corridor, she trotted out the open bay at the back, directly into her pasture. I moved to Amaretto as I shared with Deanna, “No, he didn’t tell me that. I mean, we talked but we were also doing other things.” I let that lie. It did, weighty between us on the phone, before I went on, “I don’t know what that means.” Even though it seemed like I did. Something seemed familiar about that. “You haven’t lived here long enough,” she murmured while I opened Amaretto’s stall and moved in for some quick pats before I let him loose. Louder, Deanna said, “You know the gas station in town?” Oh yes. That was where I’d seen it. “He owns that?” “That and seven more of them across three counties. None in the city, just in the counties. Some of them are like mini-mart stores. All of them sell gas and do work on cars.” Wow. That was impressive.

About Kristen Ashley: Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorize and she hadn't taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen's Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning. Nothing's changed. Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she's blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

Review by Irene: Ride Steady by Kristen Ashley

The ride of her life . . . Once upon a time, Carissa Teodoro believed in happy endings. Money, marriage, motherhood: everything came easy---until she woke up to the ugly truth about her Prince Charming. Now a struggling, single mom and stranded by a flat tire, Carissa's pondering her mistakes when a vaguely familiar knight rides to her rescue on a ton of horsepower.

Climb on and hold tight . . .
In high school, Carson Steele was a bad boy loner who put Carissa on a pedestal where she stayed far beyond his reach. Today, he's the hard-bodied biker known only as Joker, and from the way Carissa's acting, it's clear she's falling fast. While catching her is irresistible, knowing what to do with her is a different story. A good girl like Carissa is the least likely fit with the Chaos Motorcycle Club. Too bad holding back is so damned hard. Now, as Joker's secrets are revealed and an outside threat endangers the club, Joker must decide whether to ride steady with Carissa---or ride away forever .

Add to Goodreads

I love all things Kristen Ashley. The Chaos series is a must read series.

Carson was just a boy looking from the outside in. He stood on the edge of fence looking into Ride, looking and watching Chaos. He watched as men and their boys fixed bikes and cars. Little did he know he was being watched as well.
To say Carson had a hard life isn't false. No child should have endured what he did. He mom M.I.A, his dad a dill hole. Carson did have neighbors who looked after him from time to time. If he needed anything he knew who he could count on. That being said Carson had things drilled into his head by his dill hole of a father. When Carson didn't choose to take anymore lip from his father,he upped and left.

Fast forward to Carissa on the side of a the road needing help. Everyone and no one helped. How? They kept on driving. That is until Joker stopped on his bike. He knew who she was, but she couldn't place how she knew him. There was a familiarity to him, but Carissa was having a hard time placing her finger on it.

Carrie didn't have a hard life, she didn't exactly have an easy one either. She did know that the one person she want to be with left. He did say goodbye but she didn't when if and when she would see him again.

Their relationship might started off rocky because Joker wasn't really forthcoming with Carrie. He knew all about her. Her life with her ex husband, and how Aaron was a douche bag.

What I love about KA and her books. If there is a good person who is in distress the guys pull out all the stops to help. They enlist their woman, and their woman enlist their other friends. This is what Carrie needed.

I really hated Aaron with a passion. Who in their right mind treats the mother of their child that way? Who treats a woman that way? Someone with out a heart that is who.

As Carrie's and Jokers relationship blooms, there are still a few triggers to be worked out. Like Joker's dad. Carrie she is a hoot. She took matters in her own hands and not only proved herself to her girls but also to Joker. His butterfly was flying.

I love how KA brings other characters from her other series into this book. OMG it was like one big reunion.

Joker ends up with the one thing he wanted in life. Family. He got that and so much more. He is now the man looking from the inside out!!!
