Synopsis:

I try very hard not to judge a book by its cover. But to be honest, I will judge a book by its title. I really love when a book is able to integrate its title into the story line. Ms. Torre did exactly that with this book.
When Ty's mother passed away, she stayed with her dad who was a pitcher for the New York Yankees. And by stayed with I mean, on the bus and at all the games. The players became her family. At 17 she was a batgirl and knew all there was to know about baseball, including who the hottest player was: Chase. Chase always dreamed of playing in the pinstripes. And when he finally gets his chance, he takes it! Chase and Ty meet but she is underage not to mention her dad would kill him.
This is not a typical love story. The pace and timing of this story are done rather well. The author has also included a wonderful overriding mystery that will end in a way you never, ever expect. When you read as much as I do, it becomes really difficult to find a book that takes you completely by surprise and off-guard. This one did and it was completely worth the sleepless night. Literally, I finished in one sitting when I should have been sleeping but I don't regret it. I even want to catch a game now!
Ty is the daughter of a living baseball legend. Baseball has been her life. Chase signs with the team, and the attraction begins. Chase is a bad boy, and at odds with the team. He doesn’t lay low after the last scandal he had, instead swapping vices. He knows the Ty is off limits, but he never follows rules… Most bad boys don’t.
It’s a beautiful love story, mixed with a sense of melancholy making you feel like the story isn’t going to go well for them.
Other elements were introduced into the plot, and they almost seemed to be a distraction instead of adding to the story. Loved the fact that Alessandra was able to convey the world of baseball so that it captured the emotions on and off the field.
I’ve never read any of Alessandra’s books, but, this was a great first to jump into. Mystery and intrigue are the order of the day. On the surface Moonshot is a sports romance with a forbidden element. But there are more layers to discover, and I’ll let you do that for yourself.
